I'm honored to welcome you all to this unique and exciting training program, where we'll be exploring the rich cultural heritage of our province through the Limasawa Pot Replica, Painting, and Baybayin Lettering.

This training is designed to immerse you in the art, history, and significance of these important cultural symbols. Through a combination of lectures, hands-on activities, and creative expression, you'll gain a deeper understanding of the Limasawa Pot Replica, learn traditional painting techniques, and discover the beauty of Baybayin, the earliest form of writing in the Philippines.

Our goal is to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and inspiration to promote and preserve our cultural heritage. On March 31, 2025, the entire nation marked the 𝟓𝟎𝟒𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟏𝟓𝟐𝟏 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 more known as the 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬, in the island of Limasawa, Southern Leyte with the theme “𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐦𝐨𝐧 𝐧𝐠𝐚 𝐏𝐚𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐰𝐢𝐠 𝐍𝐠𝐚𝐝𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐚 𝐊𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐚𝐧 𝐔𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝐮𝐠 𝐃𝐢𝐡𝐚 𝐤𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐇𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐬 𝐮𝐠 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚". This year’s commemoration coincided with the world-wide celebration of the 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐂𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐡’𝐬 𝐉𝐮𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐞 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓, themed “𝐏𝐢𝐥𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐨𝐩𝐞”. Youth Delegates of the Diocesan Ministry for Children and Youth hailing from the 𝟕 𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐚𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐧 led the“𝐏𝐢𝐥𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐨𝐩𝐞” procession early in the morning. Their presence emphasized the vital role of the youth in fostering and nurturing the Catholic faith in our country.

At exactly 9.30 am, the Anniversary Mass took place at the Shrine of the First Mass and the Holy Cross in Magallanes. The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by 𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐯. 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐨𝐬𝐨 𝐃. 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐬, 𝐒𝐃𝐁, 𝐃𝐃, 𝐁𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐚𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐧, and co-officiated by the𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐯. 𝐍𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐁𝐮𝐜𝐨, 𝐁𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧, a native of San Francisco, Southern Leyte. The congregation included priests, religious groups, pilgrims, local government officials led by the provincial governor and vice governor, Region VIII official, and men in uniform, highlighting the unity between the Church and the government in commemorating the historical event.

𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐈𝐦𝐞𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐨𝐬, Guest of Honor also attended the Mass together with the other Honored Guests.

Following the Mass was the Anniversary Program where the good senator delivered her message which centered on the importance of the event. At the end of the program was the highly anticipated 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐠𝐝𝐚𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 presentation, a vibrant and dynamic performance that depicted the events that led to the First Easter Sunday in the Philippines. Adorned with depicted attires from the year 1521, intricate dance movement, historical music and compelling storytelling, the dance perfectly portrayed the arrival of Ferdinand Magellan and his fleet, their encounter with the indigenous people, and the historic moment when the first record of Christian Mass in the archipelago was held on March 31st in 1521. It was performed by the 𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐃 (𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭), a dance group based in Limasawa Island and was the Grand Champion during the last year’s Sinugdan Festival.

The Sinugdan presentation signifies the official closing of the 504th 1521 FESM.

With each passing year, the Commemoration strengthens, inspire Filipinos to walk steadfastly in their faith as true Pilgrims of Hope in the modern world.

𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲 is a solemn day in the Christian faith that commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. It reflects on His suffering, sacrifice, and love as He died to take away the sins of humanity. Rather than seeking revenge, Jesus offered forgiveness and fulfilled His mission of salvation. The crucifixion symbolizes God's deep love and the victory of grace over sin and death. Good Friday encourages reflection, repentance, and a renewed commitment to selfless love, while also pointing toward the hope and triumph of Easter Sunday.
