The Environmental Management BureauβNegros Island Region (EMB-NIR) OIC, Regional Director Vicente S. LosbaΓ±es expressed the agencyβs full support for environmental protection and sustainability initiatives during the opening ceremony of the 34th Provincial Environment Month Celebration held on June 5, 2026.
The event, spearheaded by the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental through the Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO), gathered representatives from national government agencies, local government units, the academe, development partners, and various stakeholders committed to advancing environmental stewardship in the province.
In his message of support, Director LosbaΓ±es underscored the importance of collective action and strengthened partnerships in addressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainable development. He reaffirmed EMB-NIRβs commitment to working closely with local governments, partner agencies, and communities in implementing environmental programs and ensuring the protection of the regionβs natural resources.
The opening ceremony was led by Provincial Environment Management Officer Atty. Julie Ann Bedrio and featured messages from key environmental leaders, including DENR-NIR Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services Engr. Joan Nathaniel F. Gerangaya. Also delivering a keynote message was British Embassy Manila Economic and Climate Counsellor Lloyd Cameron.
The month-long celebration aims to raise environmental awareness and encourage active participation among stakeholders in advancing climate action, resource conservation, and sustainable environmental management across Negros Occidental.
The observance of Provincial Environment Month serves as a platform to strengthen collaboration among government agencies, private sector partners, and communities toward achieving a greener, more resilient, and sustainable future.
