β οΈ STRONG REMINDER TO ALL DOG OWNERS
KEEP YOUR DOG WITHIN YOUR PREMISES β IT IS THE LAW.
The Barangay Villamonte strongly reminds ALL DOG OWNERS to exercise responsible pet ownership and to keep their dogs properly confined within their homes, premises, or fenced surroundings.
This is not merely a barangay reminder. It is mandated by law.
π REPUBLIC ACT NO. 9482 β ANTI-RABIES ACT OF 2007
Under Section 5(c) of RA 9482, pet owners are required to maintain control over their dogs and not allow them to roam the streets or any public place without a leash.
Furthermore, Section 7(3) directs Local Government Units to ensure that dogs are leashed or confined within the premises of the owner's house or fenced surroundings.
β οΈ FAILURE TO COMPLY HAS CONSEQUENCES.
Under Section 11(5) of RA 9482, a pet owner who refuses to put a leash on their dog when brought outside the house may be imposed a β±500 fine for each incident. Stray dogs may also be subject to impounding and appropriate field-control measures pursuant to the law.
TO ALL DOG OWNERS:
KEEP YOUR DOG INSIDE YOUR PREMISES.
DO NOT LET YOUR DOG ROAM FREELY.
USE A PROPER LEASH WHEN OUTSIDE.
SECURE YOUR GATES, FENCES, AND OTHER MEANS OF CONFINEMENT.
ENSURE YOUR DOG IS REGISTERED AND VACCINATED AGAINST RABIES.
Being a pet owner means being responsible for the safety, welfare, and actions of your pet.
Do not wait for your dog to cause an accident, bite someone, damage property, or become a stray before taking action.
THIS IS A FIRM REMINDER.
The Barangay will coordinate with the appropriate authorities in enforcing existing laws and regulations concerning stray and uncontrolled dogs.
RESPONSIBLE PET OWNERSHIP IS A LEGAL DUTY β NOT A CHOICE.
KEEP YOUR DOG SAFE. KEEP YOUR NEIGHBORS SAFE. KEEP YOUR COMMUNITY SAFE.
Legal Basis: Republic Act No. 9482 β Anti-Rabies Act of 2007, particularly Sections 5, 7, 9 and 11.
