- August 4, 2026, personnel from the RRSU NIR, led by PCOL JACOB T CRISOSTOMO, Chief of RRSU NIR, conducted a Career Development Symposium for the Criminal Justice Education students of Central Philippine State University, San Carlos City Campus, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

The RRSU NIR personnel were warmly welcomed by the Campus Administrator, Mr. Ken M. Balogo, along with the faculty led by Mr. Corold A. Romano, Dean of the College of Criminal Justice Education.
During the symposium, PCOL Crisostomo discussed the essential steps and preparations required to join the Philippine National Police. He encouraged the students to remain focused on their studies, avoid vices, and continuously strive for self-improvement.

The students were also familiarized with the use of Gopher as a tool for counting push-ups and sit-ups during the recruitment process.

Furthermore, PCOL Crisostomo disseminated the SAFE NIR Dial 911 initiative of PRO NIR Regional Director PBGEN ROMANO V CARDIÑO, in line with the mandate of PGEN JOSE MELENCIO NARTATEZ JR., Chief of the Philippine National Police.

- At around 9:00 AM on July 28, 2026, PCOL JACOB T CRISOSTOMO, Regional Chief, Regional Recruitment and Selection Unit–Negros Island Region, served as the lecturer during the 14-day In-House Training for the incoming fourth-year Criminal Justice Education students of Carlos Hilado Memorial State University–Binalbagan Campus.
During the lecture, PCOL Crisostomo discussed the Panel Interview as one of the key phases of the PNP Recruitment Process. He explained its purpose, the qualities being assessed, and the importance of proper preparation to help aspiring applicants successfully undergo the interview.

The activity forms part of the continuing collaboration between the PNP Recruitment and Selection Service and colleges and universities to prepare future applicants for the PNP recruitment process and strengthen partnership with academic institutions.

- July 23, 2026, personnel of the RRSU NIR, led by PCOL JACOB T CRISOSTOMO, Chief of RRSU NIR, together with PLTCOL MA. JOYCE R BIRREY, Assistant Chief facilitated a lecture on the Concepts and Principles of Human Rights conducted by the Commission on Human Rights (CHR), Negros Island Region.

Atty. Gazzelenne B. Corsame-Fuentes, Officer-in-Charge of the Commission on Human Rights, Negros Island Region, served as the resource speaker and discussed the fundamental concepts and principles of human rights, emphasizing the inherent dignity and equal rights of every individual, the State's obligation to respect, protect, and fulfill human rights, and the importance of promoting a culture of human rights within the police organization. She also highlighted the role of law enforcement officers in upholding human rights while performing their duties, in accordance with the Constitution, existing laws, and international human rights standards.

The lecture enhanced the participants' understanding of human rights principles and reinforced the commitment of RRSU NIR personnel to perform their duties with professionalism, integrity, accountability, and full respect for the rights and dignity of all persons.

PNP NABS 3 FORMER CTG MEMBERS WANTED FOR MURDER, CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY

The Philippine National Police (PNP), through the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), has arrested three former members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) who were facing separate warrants of arrest for serious criminal offenses in coordinated operations conducted in Mindanao on July 13 and 15, 2026.

The operations, carried out in Sarangani Province, Agusan del Norte, and Surigao del Norte, led to the arrest of aliases “Leo,” “Mike,” and “Nika,” all of legal age. The three were wanted in separate cases involving murder, attempted murder, robbery with violence against or intimidation of persons, multiple attempted murder, and violations of Republic Act No. 9851, or the law on crimes against international humanitarian law, genocide, and other crimes against humanity.

Police records also indicate that the three were former CTG members who had been previously included in the Armed Forces of the Philippines' Periodic Status Report of Listed Target Groups.

PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., said the arrests underscore the PNP's commitment to ensuring that individuals facing criminal charges are brought before the courts through lawful police operations.

"Hindi ito tungkol sa nakaraan ng isang tao kundi sa pananagutan sa batas. Kung may warrant of arrest na inilabas ang hukuman, tungkulin nating ipatupad ito nang maayos, may paggalang sa karapatan ng bawat isa, at ayon sa proseso," PGEN Nartatez said.

"These operations reflect the close coordination among our operating units and our partner agencies. Patuloy nating paiigtingin ang manhunt operations laban sa mga wanted persons because every lawful arrest is a step toward safer communities and justice for victims," he added.

The successful operations support the PNP's Focused Agenda under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, which strengthens intelligence-driven law enforcement and sustained efforts to locate and arrest wanted persons while ensuring that all police actions remain within the bounds of the law. They also reinforce the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in promoting peace, public safety, and the rule of law across the country.

The PNP assured the public that it will continue to pursue individuals with outstanding warrants through lawful, rights-based police operations, in keeping with the organization's commitment to Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman.

PNP READIES OVER 20,000 PERSONNEL FOR 5TH SONA SECURITY OPERATIONS

Eight days before the Fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on July 27, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has finalized and begun implementing its comprehensive security preparations, with 20,229 personnel designated for deployment to help ensure the safe, orderly, and peaceful conduct of one of the country's most significant national events.

The deployment reflects the PNP's dual objective of securing the SONA while ensuring that police services remain uninterrupted in communities across Metro Manila. Notably, 5,904 personnel have been designated to sustain anti-criminality and other police operations, ensuring continuous police visibility, crime prevention, and emergency response even as security measures for the SONA are intensified. Meanwhile, 2,345 personnel have been assigned to the House of Representatives, which will serve as the main venue of the President's address.

Additional personnel will be strategically positioned in designated staging areas, major thoroughfares, transport hubs, border control points, law enforcement checkpoints, emergency response units, public assistance stations, and other key convergence areas to maintain public order, facilitate traffic management, and provide immediate assistance before, during, and after the event.

The security preparations are being carried out in line with the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, which strengthens intelligence-driven planning, inter-agency coordination, and proactive police presence during major national events while ensuring that the constitutional rights of all individuals are respected.

PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. assured the public that the organization is fully prepared to carry out its mandate with professionalism, discipline, and respect for the rights of every Filipino.

"Hindi lang ito tungkol sa seguridad ng SONA. Ang mahalaga, tuloy-tuloy pa rin ang serbisyo ng pulisya sa ating mga komunidad habang tinitiyak nating magiging mapayapa at maayos ang pagdaraos ng okasyong ito. We want every Filipino to feel safe—whether they are attending the event, going to work, or simply carrying on with their daily lives,"PGen Nartatez said.

The Chief PNP likewise reminded all commanders and deployed personnel to remain disciplined, exercise maximum tolerance, and maintain professionalism throughout the security operations.

"Ang bilin ko sa ating mga pulis, pairalin ang disiplina, respeto, at malasakit sa bawat mamamayan. Our success will not only be measured by a peaceful SONA, but also by how we earn the trust and confidence of the public through our actions," the PNP Chief added.

The PNP continues to work closely with partner government agencies, local government units, and other stakeholders to synchronize security, traffic management, emergency preparedness, and public safety measures in the lead-up to the Fifth SONA of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

As preparations continue over the coming days, the PNP encourages the public to cooperate with lawful security measures and immediately report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through established emergency channels.

PNP POISED TO ENSURE SAFE, SUCCESSFUL 44TH ASEANAPOL CONFERENCE

With just three days before the opening of the 44th ASEAN Chiefs of National Police (ASEANAPOL) Conference on July 22, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has entered the final phase of its security and operational preparations, reaffirming the country's readiness to host one of Southeast Asia's most important law enforcement gatherings from July 22 to 26, 2026, under the theme "United in Vision: Securing People and Strengthening Collaboration."

The PNP reported that all major preparations are on schedule, with administrative requirements substantially completed, final rehearsals concluded, and remaining conference materials set for delivery before the opening. Security, communications, transportation, and venue coordination have likewise been synchronized to ensure the safe and orderly conduct of the five-day international event.

As of the latest update, 186 delegates have confirmed their participation, representing the ASEANAPOL Secretariat, ASEAN Member Countries, Dialogue Partners, and Observer Organizations. The conference will serve as a platform for police leaders and partner organizations to strengthen regional cooperation against transnational crime, terrorism, cybercrime, human trafficking, and other emerging security challenges.

To support the country's hosting responsibilities, the PNP has deployed 1,559 personnel from various National Support Units, complemented by personnel from partner government agencies. The operation is further backed by 282 PNP mobility assets, additional transport support from participating organizations, and 3,765 communications and ICT equipment to ensure reliable coordination before and throughout the conference.

PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. emphasized that the organization is fully prepared to provide a secure environment for all delegates and participants.

"Handa na ang inyong PNP. Our preparations have been thorough because the safety of every delegate and the success of this conference remain our top priorities. Gusto nating maipakita na ang Pilipinas ay isang maaasahang partner sa pagpapanatili ng kapayapaan at seguridad sa ating rehiyon," PGen Nartatez said.

TWO DRUG SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN BACOLOD CITY BUY-BUST

Two street level individuals were arrested and more or less 30 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated Standard Drug Price of PhP 204,000.00 were confiscated during a buy-bust operation conducted by Police Station 3, BCPO, with the support of CIU, BCPO, at around 7:14 PM on July 17, 2026, in Purok Mahimulaton, Barangay Banago, Bacolod City.

The arrested suspects were identified as alias “Yan Yan," 44 years old, male, married, unemployed and resident of Purok Mahimulaton, Barangay Banago, Bacolod City; and alias “Rod,” 26 years old, male, single, unemployed and a resident of Purok Mahimulaton, Barangay Banago, Bacolod City.

An information was received from a confidential informant indicating that alias "Yan Yan" was allegedly engaged in the illegal drug trade in the area. Acting on the report, the operating team conducted validation through other confidential informants, along with casing and surveillance operations, to verify the suspect's illegal activities. Upon confirmation of the information, the operatives, with the assistance of the confidential informant, successfully arranged a drug transaction that led to the conduct of a buy-bust operation. Alias "Yan Yan" was arrested immediately after the illegal sale was consummated, while alias "Rod" was apprehended after he was caught in the act of purchasing suspected illegal drugs during the operation.

Recovered from the suspects during the operation were:

1. One (1) sachet of suspected shabu (buy-bust item);

2. Eleven (11) sachets of suspected shabu (possession);

3. One (1) Five-Hundred-peso bill (buy-bust money);

4. One (1) coin purse; and

5. PhP 100,567.00 in various denomination as proceeds.

The suspects were informed of their constitutional rights in a language they fully understood. The confiscated pieces of evidence were properly marked, inventoried, and photographed in the presence of the suspects and required witnesses in accordance with Section 21 of Republic Act No. 9165. The suspects are now under the custody of Police Station 3, BCPO for proper legal disposition.

"Our intensified anti-illegal drug campaign remains unwavering. Every successful operation demonstrates our determination to dismantle the illegal drug network in the region and hold those involved accountable under the law. We will continue to strengthen our intelligence capabilities and law enforcement efforts to safeguard our communities from the harmful effects of illegal drugs," said PBGEN ROMANO V CARDIÑO, Regional Director.
