𝘓𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘪𝘯 𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘨𝘦, 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘵𝘺, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯.

This 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲, the Pampanga State University - Office of Culture and the Arts highlights Filipino women as cultural bearers and active co-creators of meaning within the nation’s diverse artistic and social landscapes. Through culture and the arts, their stories form a living tapestry of identity, continuity, and transformation.

From 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐭𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 such as Tausug, T’boli, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mangyan, Aeta, Maranao, and Bagobo communities, cultural memory is sustained through weaving traditions, oral literature, ritual performance, textile design, and indigenous knowledge systems that anchor identity and belonging.

From 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞𝐬 such as the Dalagang Filipina, Modern Filipina, OFW women, Revolutionary women, and Religious women, evolving narratives of femininity, migration, faith, and nationhood are expressed through lived experience and cultural representation.

From 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐞-𝐎𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 such as Gabriela women, Women’s Legal and Human Rights Bureau advocates, athlete women, entrepreneurial women, and political leaders, civic participation and creative activism emerge through movements for justice, empowerment, equality, and social inclusion.

Through these intersecting cultural expressions, Filipino women embody how dialogue is performed, how inclusion is practiced, and how solidarity is sustained within communities.

In observance of this day, the Office of Culture and the Arts reaffirms its commitment to cultural stewardship and creative engagement toward societies where trust is nurtured, diversity is honored, and peace is collectively built through the arts and shared human experience.

𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗦 𝗔𝗚𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗦𝗧 𝗔𝗥𝗠𝗦: 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁

This day, May 24, the Pampanga State University - Office of Culture and the Arts joins the global observance of International Women’s Day for Peace and Disarmament — a movement that recognizes the enduring role of women in peacebuilding, conflict prevention, and the fight against militarism and violence.

Established through the collective action of feminist and pacifist women in the early 1980s, this observance continues to challenge the culture of war and calls for a future rooted in justice, inclusion, and humanity. It reminds us that true security is not measured by weapons or armed power, but by the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of communities.

Through culture and the arts, women have long transformed resistance into creation using music, dance, weaving, visual storytelling, theater, and heritage as instruments of healing, solidarity, and social change. Artistic expression becomes a powerful force that rejects violence, amplifies voices, preserves identity, and inspires collective hope.

The Office of Culture and the Arts stands in solidarity with all women who continue to lead spaces of peace, creativity, and empowerment. We honor those who use art not only to remember history, but also to reimagine a world free from fear, inequality, and conflict.

As we commemorate this day, may we continue to support cultural spaces where women are heard, represented, protected, and empowered to lead. Because when women shape peace, communities flourish.

And when culture leads the way, humanity moves forward together.

Graduate School | April 25, 2026

The Graduate School, in partnership with the Extension Office, successfully conducted a session on Degenderized Crafting of Community-Responsive Extension Project/Program Proposals aimed at strengthening inclusive, equitable, and responsive extension initiatives. The activity emphasized the importance of removing gender biases in program development while ensuring that proposed projects are grounded in the real needs of partner communities.

Through collaborative discussions and guided workshops, participants were equipped with strategies to design extension programs that promote inclusivity, sustainability, and social relevance—aligned with the Graduate School’s commitment to transformative and community-centered education.

Graduate School | April 11, 2026

The Graduate School, in collaboration with the Research Management Office, successfully conducted the seminar-workshop titled “Scholarly Excellence: A Degenderized Publication Roadmap for Graduate School Professors” at the University Hostel, Pampanga State University.

The activity gathered graduate school professors in a meaningful engagement focused on strengthening research and publication practices through a degenderized lens. Participants actively collaborated in identifying researchable problems, enhancing methodological rigor, and aligning their work with international publication standards such as Scopus and Web of Science.

The session also emphasized ethical research practices, inclusive scholarly discourse, and the refinement of research proposals through constructive peer and panel feedback. This initiative reflects the University’s commitment to advancing academic excellence, gender responsiveness, and globally competitive research among its faculty.
