MSWDO Baggao: Ensuring Preparedness and Service Amid Typhoon Paolo (Matmo)
As part of disaster preparedness measures, the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) β Baggao hauled family food packs from the DSWD Region II Warehouse in Ugac Norte, Tuguegarao City on September 29 and October 1, 2025. These relief goods were prepositioned in the municipality to guarantee immediate assistance to families in times of calamities.
During the onslaught of Typhoon Paolo (Matmo), MSWDO staff also remained on duty and standby operations, ensuring timely welfare response and support to affected constituents.
Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA)
On October 2, 2025, the Local Government Unit of Baggao conducted a Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA) as part of strengthened preparations for the anticipated impact of Typhoon Paolo ( ).
The PDRA was attended by representatives from the MDRRM Office, PNP, BFP, DepEd, and other concerned agencies. Discussions focused on the possible effects of the typhoon, hazards it may bring, and necessary measures to ensure the safety of residents.
Key agreements included:
Monitoring weather updates and water levels in major rivers and creeks.
Preparation of evacuation centers and relief goods for affected families.
Implementation of pre-emptive evacuation in flood-prone and landslide-prone areas if necessary.
Strengthened coordination among emergency responders and barangay disaster action teams.
The PDRA aimed to secure timely, orderly, and systematic response to any effects of Typhoon Paolo, protecting lives and properties of Baggao residents.
Operational Period Briefing
On October 3, 2025, the MDRRM Office convened an Operational Period Briefing as part of the continuing preparedness of the LGU against the effects of Typhoon Paolo.
The briefing was attended by Mayor Leonardo C. Pattung, MD, along with representatives from the PNP, BFP, MSWDO, and team leaders of different response clusters. Discussions centered on the current weather situation, possible hazards such as flooding and landslides, and contingency plans for immediate response and evacuation if needed.
The MDRRM Office emphasized the importance of readiness at all levelsβagencies and barangays alikeβto ensure the safety of the community. The public was likewise reminded to heed official advisories and avoid spreading unverified information.
Through these proactive measures, the MSWDO Baggao reaffirms its commitment to social protection, disaster response, and community welfare, ensuring that Baggao residents are cared for and supported in times of emergencies.
