It was composed of the barangays west of the Allah River, which would be taken out and separated from the northern municipality of Isulan. One of these barangays, located almost equidistant from the northern and southern boundaries, was chosen to be the capital town, and appropriately named as Bagong Bayan. At that time, most of the areas west of Allah River were virgin forest, teeming with abunda
nt wildlife. The jungle looked forbidding, but the land beneath the trees was extremely fertile and very promising. To the land-hungry and determined settlers from Luzon and Visayas, the prospect of the better life in a new world of the settlement was more tempting that they could not resist, and even the hovering threat of the deadly malaria, the snakes, the leeches and many more, could not deter them. Sometime in January 1956, more or less sixty (60) settlers started from Kolambog have crossed the Allah River, then headed west. Three (3) men led them, namely: Ricardo Forro, Rafael Latigay, and Macario dela Cruz. They settled at a selected spot in the forest near the foot of the Daguma Range. They began to clear the forest for kaingin. The settlers called their small community “BANSADA”, a Hiligaynon word, meaning “in full view “. The place was located on a high rise portion just at the base of the Daguma Range. Water for domestic use was available however, it was hard to find especially during the dry months. So the settlement moved eastward near creeks, which was later named Mono Creek. Datu Kudanding Camsa, the benefactor of the settlers, proposed that the settlement should become the nucleus of the municipality, and called the place,”Bagong Bayan”. To the north and south, settlements were similarly undergoing birth and transformation. One after the other, settlements were being carved out of the jungles and gradually became burgeoning, rural communities. During the sixties, some nine (9) barangays were established at the west of Allah River. These barangays have been the foundation of the Municipality of Bagumbayan.
