People have asked me why I chose to support a person this time.

My answer is simple: the person I’m supporting is like family to me. He grew up with us, was my eldest child’s classmate since they were young, and spent so much time in our home. That personal connection is something I value deeply.

As for my friends, they know that from the very beginning, I stood beside them wherever they chose to stand. I never questioned their decisions, even when they changed the candidates they supported more than once. I respected their right to choose because that is what democracy is all about.

Respect should go both ways. We don’t have to agree on everything to remain friends. Different choices should never end a friendship or erase years of respect.

Let’s respect one another’s decisions and allow everyone the freedom to support the person they believe in. In the end, our character matters more than our politics.

Paalala po ang araw na ito sa tungkulin nating lahat na gawing ingklusibo ang ating mga komunidad para sa mga indibidwal na may espesyal na pangangailangan lalo na po ang mga batang may Autism.

Kaya’t bilang may akda at co-sponsor ng Senate Bill No. 1822 o ang National Autism Care, Support, and Inclusion Act, patuloy po nating isusulong ang panukalang ito hanggang maging ganap na batas hindi lamang po para itaas ang pagkilala at pagtanggap sa kanila kundi para matiyak na sapat ang mga programang tutugon sa pangangailangan ng mga kababayan nating nasa Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
