𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗗𝗔𝗟𝗨𝗦: 𝗥𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻-𝗨𝗽 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲

As part of the Leadership Camp activities, the student leaders also conducted 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗗𝗔𝗟𝗨𝗦 (𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘢𝘭 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘈𝘮𝘪𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘓𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘐𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘜𝘴𝘦𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘈𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘰𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘚𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘌𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵).This project is an initiative of the 𝗔𝗦𝗜𝗦𝗧 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 that started in 2023 and continues to be implemented today. It aims to promote proper waste disposal and encourage practical initiatives that contribute to building cleaner and more sustainable communities. During the camp, Project DALUS was intentionally integrated into the program as a hands-on activity where student leaders conducted a clean-up drive along a nearby riverbank. The activity focused on removing solid wastes from the river to help protect aquatic resources and promote environmental responsibility, especially since the province of Abra is known for its abundant freshwater resources. Through this initiative, participants were reminded that protecting natural resources can begin with simple yet meaningful actions such as maintaining clean waterways.

The clean-up drive also aligned with the celebration of 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝘆, observed every March 22 as part of a global initiative led by the UN to highlight the importance of freshwater and advocate for the sustainable management of water resources. This activity also addressed key Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 14 (Life Below Water), as it promoted the protection of freshwater systems, encouraged environmental responsibility, and supported efforts to reduce pollution that can harm aquatic ecosystems.

Student leaders actively participated in the clean-up drive, working together to collect and properly dispose of solid wastes along the riverbank. Through Project DALUS, the participants translated the values discussed during the leadership camp into concrete action, demonstrating that leadership also means taking responsibility in protecting the environment and promoting sustainable practices within their communities.

𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮: 𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗚𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗣 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗦𝗨𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗕𝗟𝗘 𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡

The second and final day of the Leadership Camp began with an energizing start through 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙁𝙄𝙏𝙉𝙀𝙎𝙎, a Zumba exercise activity that brought participants together for a fun and refreshing morning workout. The activity was led by 𝗝𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗙𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘀, FMG PRO, and 𝗔𝗹𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗮 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗹 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘇, BCAS Secretary, who encouraged everyone to stay active and promote healthy lifestyles among student leaders.

The final session of the camp featured the topic “𝙐𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝘿𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙥𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙂𝙤𝙖𝙡𝙨: 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙍𝙤𝙡𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝘼𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙂𝙡𝙤𝙗𝙖𝙡 𝙂𝙤𝙖𝙡𝙨,” delivered by Mr. 𝗥𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗿 𝗦. 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘇, SG Adviser. The discussion oriented the student leaders on the different UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and emphasized how these global goals can be integrated into student leadership initiatives. Participants were encouraged to develop programs and projects that promote healthy, sustainable, and inclusive communities, initiatives that can create meaningful impact not only within the school but also in the wider community. The activity was further graced by the presence of 𝗗𝗿. 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗼 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗻, Director for Student Services, who shared inspiring words that motivated the participants to strengthen their leadership values, take initiative, and become catalysts of positive change.

With the successful completion of the two-day Leadership Camp Training, the organizers extended their heartfelt gratitude to the individuals and offices whose support made the activity possible. Special thanks are given to the ever-supportive College President, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗼 𝗧. 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘇𝗮 𝗝𝗿., and the Vice President for Academic Affairs, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗡𝗼𝗲𝗹 𝗕. 𝗕𝗲𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻, for their unwavering support to student development programs. Appreciation is also extended to the Director for International Affairs, 𝗠𝘀. 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮 𝗔. Indeed, the two-day Leadership Camp Training was a meaningful and enriching experience that strengthened the leadership capacities of student leaders. As they return to their respective organizations, they carry with them new knowledge, strengthened camaraderie, and a shared commitment to lead initiatives that promote sustainable, healthy, and empowered communities.

𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟲, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 | 𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗘: 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗛 𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗣 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗦𝗨𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗕𝗟𝗘 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗟𝗧𝗛𝗬 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗘𝗦

Part 1: Guided by the timeless words of José Rizal, “Kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan,” the University of Abra (UA) successfully conducted the first day of its Leadership Training Camp on March 6, 2026 at Bio Spring Resort, bringing together 85 student leaders from different departments along with advisers from various student organizations.

Anchored on the theme “Leading Change: Youth Leadership for Sustainable and Healthy Communities,” the training aimed to strengthen the leadership capacity of the youth and inspire them to become responsible catalysts of change within their communities. The event highlighted an important principle of leadership—that it is not defined by the position one holds, but by the service and dedication one offers to others.

Throughout the day, participants attended a series of forums and workshops facilitated by university officials and invited speakers. The sessions focused on the significant role of student leaders in building sustainable and responsible communities.

One of the discussions highlighted the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and how youth leaders can contribute to achieving global objectives through community engagement, responsible leadership, and collective action.

Another session tackled healthy choices and responsible relationships, raising awareness on issues such as teenage pregnancy and HIV/AIDS. The discussion emphasized the importance of informed decision-making and the role of student leaders in promoting health awareness among their peers.

Participants also engaged in conversations about youth climate action and environmental stewardship, encouraging them to take active roles in protecting the environment and promoting sustainable practices within their schools and communities.

The day concluded with a lively Cultural Night, where participants showcased their talents and celebrated cultural diversity. The event culminated with the lighting of the bonfire, symbolizing unity, shared experiences, and the collective commitment of young leaders to ignite positive change.

Indeed, the first day of the Leadership Training Camp ended with strengthened camaraderie and renewed inspiration among the participants—reaffirming the belief that the youth, when guided by purpose and service, truly embody the hope of the nation.
