In line with the celebration of Barangay Week 2026, the DILG Balanga City Office, headed by LGOO VII Cristy Blanco, conducted an Orientation on Katarungang Pambarangay (KP) and the Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards (LTIA) on June 2, 2026, at Barangay Tuyo, City of Balanga.

The activity gathered members of the Barangay Council and the Lupong Tagapamayapa led by Punong Barangay Eulalio Montifalco Jr. to enhance their understanding of the Katarungang Pambarangay system and its vital role in promoting peace and order within communities.

During the orientation, participants were provided updated guidance and clarifications on the proper implementation of the Katarungang Pambarangay Law, including the roles and responsibilities of barangay officials and Lupon members in facilitating the amicable settlement of disputes. Discussions also highlighted the Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards, which recognizes exemplary performance in the administration of barangay justice.

The activity forms part of the continuing efforts of the DILG to strengthen the capacity of barangay officials in delivering accessible, efficient, and community-based dispute resolution mechanisms. By reinforcing the principles of mediation, conciliation, and dialogue, the orientation contributes to fostering harmonious relationships and sustaining peace at the grassroots level.

BALANGA CITY, BATAAN (May 26, 2026) — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Balanga City held the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Mandatory Training for newly appointed SK Treasurer of Barangay Cupang today at the City Library Conference Room.

The training was led by DILG Bataan Cluster Team Leader Cristy M. Blanco. The program aims to prepare the new youth treasurer to handle public funds with honesty and efficiency.

"Handling public funds is a big responsibility," Blanco told the participants. "As SK Treasurer, you must ensure that every peso is spent properly to help the youth of your barangay."

Under Republic Act No. 10742 (the SK Reform Act), all newly appointed SK Treasurers must complete this training before they can officially take office and handle youth funds.

Also present during the training: LYDO Jeremiah Medina and SK Federatikn President Kheilene Camus.

The Regional Validation Team (RVT) of the Fisheries Compliance Audit conducted table validation and onsite assessment in the City of Balanga on May 21, 2026. The team composed of personnel from DILG R3, BFAR and DENR.

Present during the validstion were SP Member VJ Fernandez, CAO/CENRO Nerisa Mateo and other LGU functionaries

BALANGA CITY, BATAAN — May 19, 2026 — In a consolidated effort to strengthen local accountability mechanisms for gender mainstreaming, the City Government of Balanga, through its Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System Technical Working Group (GFPS-TWG), partnered with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Balanga City Field Office to conduct an orientation on the salient features of the PCW-DILG-DBM-NEDA Joint Memorandum Circular (JMC) No. 2024-01, otherwise known as the Revised Guidelines on the Localization of the Magna Carta of Women.

To ensure rigorous quality assurance, LGOO VII Cristy M. Blanco, DILG Balanga Office Caretaker, provided hands-on technical assistance to the City GFPS-TWG. The collaborative session focused squarely on sharpening the evaluation parameters used during the review of the Barangay GAD Plan and Budget (GPB) and the Barangay GAD Accomplishment Report (AR).

As the primary engine driving local policy compliance, the GFPS-TWG is tasked with ensuring that all component barangays in Balanga City transition seamlessly to this updated national framework. This localized transition directly impacts how upcoming cycles of barangay GPBs and ARs are reviewed, vetted, and endorsed, ensuring absolute strategic alignment with the overarching GAD Agenda of the City of Balanga.

BALANGA CITY BATAAN – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) – City of Balanga attended the LnB Balanga Chapter monthly meeting on May 17, 2026 to strengthen coordination with the 25 Punong Barangay of the City of Balanga.
The meeting was presided by LnB President Hon. Erlinda Ganzon whose leadership continues to promote unity among the barangay officials.

LGOO VII Cristy M. Blanco – Office caretaker of DILG Balanga provides guidance on Memorandum Circular 2026-021 re: Inventory and Turnover of Barangay and SK Properties, Financial Records, Documents and Money Accountabilities. She specified that a separate meeting for the detailed discussion on the said MC will be conducted before the end of the month. Present also is Mr. Franz Liam Arabia from the Mayor’s Office who discussed programs of the City of Balanga.

Also in attendance is BM Romeo Austria reminding the barangays on the encoding of inhabitants in the Barangay Governance Information System for the implementation of Bataeño pass.
The activity concluded with a simple celebration for May birthday celebrants, fostering camaraderie and stronger collaboration among barangay leaders.

In solidarity with the justice sector, the Department of the Interior and Local Government – Balanga City joined the celebration of the 16th Anniversary of the Justice Sector Coordinating Council on April 30, 2026. Celebrating the sixteen years of continuing coordination, cooperation, and communication among justice sector agencies in promoting a more responsive, efficient, and people-centered justice system.

Through this observance, DILG Balanga reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening inter-agency collaboration and supporting initiatives that advance good governance, rule of law, and effective public service delivery for the people of Balanga City.
