The Sangguniang Kabataan and the Tournament Committee would like to formally address the concerns and statements currently circulating regarding the recent Championship Game and the circumstances surrounding the default of the Team Sampaguita.
Nauunawaan po namin na nagkaroon ng delay sa schedule kumpara sa oras na nakapost. Gayunpaman, mahalagang isaalang-alang na ang event ay isang Championship Game na pinagsamang Volleyball at Basketball, kaya kinakailangan ng proper coordination upang maging maayos ang flow ng buong programa at ma-consider ang schedule ng lahat ng participating teams.
Bilang committee, we were doing our best to consider everyoneโs interests and accommodate both divisions. Hindi po namin intensyon na paboran ang isang team o division. We simply wanted to make sure na magiging maayos, patas, at maayos ang Championship event para sa lahat.
REGARDING THE DELAY
Ang pangyayaring ito ay nag-ugat noong August 23, 2026 (Sunday), kung saan ang mga nakaschedule na games ay nagkaroon ng delays at hindi nasunod ang eksaktong oras na nakapost.
Ang delay ay dulot ng ilang factors, kabilang ang tagal ng mga naunang laro, player introductions bago magsimula ang bawat game, pagkain at pagpapahinga ng referees, at iba pang hindi inaasahang circumstances na nakaapekto sa overall schedule ng event.
We acknowledge that the delay may have caused inconvenience and frustration, particularly to the teams waiting for their respective games. However, as a Championship event, the committee had to consider the entire program and ensure that each game would be conducted properly.
REGARDING THE REQUEST TO RESCHEDULE
Hindi na po nakapaghintay ang concerned team at nagpahayag ng kagustuhang i-cancel at i-reschedule ang kanilang laro dahil sa delay.
Nais din po naming linawin na ang committee ay hindi naman tumanggi na makinig sa kanilang concern. However, ang naging approach po ay hindi na simpleng request or consultation with the committee. We were being instructed to reschedule the game despite the fact na wala pang agreement o approval mula sa committee regarding the proposed rescheduling.
Mahalaga pong tandaan na the committee cannot simply reschedule a Championship Game based on the decision of one team alone. Hindi lamang po ang concerned team ang kailangang isaalang-alang. Wala rin pong naging complaint mula sa kabilang team regarding the delay, at sila ay willing na maghintay upang maituloy ang kanilang Championship Game.
Mayroon ding kasunod na team na nakatakdang maglaro sa Championship program. Any adjustment in the schedule would therefore affect not only one team, but also the opposing team, the next scheduled team, the referees, committee, and the overall Championship program.
REGARDING THE CHAMPIONSHIP PREPARATIONS
We also understand that some members of the concerned team may have expressed frustration regarding the waiting time and the Championship preparations, including the lights, smoke effects, entrance, and other program preparations.
Gayunpaman, ang mga preparations na ito ay bahagi ng Championship program na inayos para sa lahat ng participating teams. Ang mga pampailaw, smoke effects, committee personnel, at referees ay nakalaan at nakapaglaan na rin ng oras at resources para sa event.
Dahil dito, kinakailangan ng committee na i-consider ang interests ng lahat ng teams and participants, at hindi lamang ang concern ng isang side.
REGARDING THE DEFAULT
Bago po simulan ang countdown para sa default, minention at kinontak na rin po ng committee ang captain ng concerned team regarding their status. We acknowledge that there was a delay, but communication was already being made before the default process was initiated.
Most importantly, the committee did not approve the rescheduling of the game. Despite the absence of an agreement or approval regarding the proposed rescheduling, the concerned team proceeded to leave the venue.
Since there was no approved rescheduling and the team had already expressed that they were giving up the game, the committee had to act based on the circumstances at that time and in accordance with the tournament rules.
Dahil dito, ang Championship Game ay naitala bilang a DEFAULT WIN for the opposing team, Anino Brothers.
We would like to emphasize that this was not a decision made to favor one team or to intentionally disadvantage another. The decision was based on the circumstances at that time, the absence of an approved rescheduling, the willingness of the opposing team to continue, and the tournament rules that apply to all participating teams.
Hindi po namin itinatanggi na nagkaroon ng delay, at hindi rin po namin sinasabing walang valid concern ang team regarding the waiting time. We understand their frustration. However, a concern should be raised through proper communication and consultationโnot through a unilateral decision that affects the entire tournament.
If there are concerns regarding the schedule, tournament rules, or the committee's decisions, we remain open to proper discussion and clarification. Ang committee ay handang makinig at magpaliwanag, ngunit inaasahan din po namin ang mutual respect, proper communication, and consideration for all participating teams.
We respectfully ask everyone to understand the complete context and both sides of the situation before making conclusions or posting statements publicly.
The purpose of this statement is not to create further conflict, but to clarify what happened, explain the committee's actions, and ensure that the same process and standards are applied fairly to everyone.
A REMINDER TO EVERYONE
The essence of events like this is to nurture the talents of everyone, promote sportsmanship, and strengthen camaraderie within our community.
This league is not only about winning or losing games. It is an opportunity for everyoneโespecially the youthโto develop discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect for one another.
We also take this opportunity to remind the elderly members of our community that they serve as role models for the youth. They should demonstrate patience, maturity, sportsmanship, and respect, rather than rash decisions or agitated confrontation.
Hindi man po maiiwasan ang delays, misunderstandings, at disagreements sa isang malaking community event, every issue and problem can be resolved through a calm, respectful, and proper manner of communication.
Let us continue to support one another and remember the true purpose of this event: to develop talents, promote sportsmanship, build camaraderie, and strengthen the unity of our community.
