The goal of this 21-month internship is to encourage the youth to engage with modern coconut farming technologies and to enhance their knowledge of the coconut industry value chain.

Mahinungdanong Pahibalo!

Ang PCA sa Baybay adunay ipanghatag nga libreng coconut seedlings (OPV Tall Variety) para sa mga NCFRS-registered coconut farmers. Hinuon, kinahanglan nga anaa ra sa dakbayan sa Baybay ang ilang kalubian.

Maka-avail usab niini ang mga dili pa registered nga coconut farmers basta makapasa sila og kumpleto nga requirements for NCFRS registration.

Makuha ang mga coconut seedlings didto sa City Agriculture Office Nursery, nga anaa mahimutang sa Barangay Gaas ‘ning dakbayan.
Alang sa dugang kasayuran, bisita sa PCA Provincial Office sa Taytayan, Zone 23, Baybay City, matag adlaw’ng Lunes (tibuok adlaw) ug Biyernes (sa hapon lang) aron makigkita sa assigned Coconut Development Officer sa Baybay nga si Lyndel Gacutan.

Ayaw kamo paglangan kay First come first serve ang atong pamaagi sa pagpanghatag sa coconut seedlings.

NCFRS Registration in Brgy. Caulisihan, Inopacan

A total of 90 coconut farmers successfully complied with the registration requirements during the activity.

The activity was made possible through the support and cooperation of the Barangay Officials of Caulisihan, who helped mobilize farmers and encouraged full participation in the registration process.

Ang Coconut Cheese ay gawa sa pinagsamang kakang gata ng niyog (18%) at pinulbos na skimmed milk (11%). Ito ay may kaparehong hitsura at kalapit na lasa ng kesong puti. Ang teknolohiyang ito ay gumagamit ng s**a pangkulta, na higit na mas mura sa ginagamit na kuhano (ingles: 𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘵) na karaniwang ginagamit sa paggawa ng tradisyunal na kesong puti.

Para sa karagdagang kaalaman i-scan lang ang QR Code na makikita sa kaakibat na litrato o magpadala ng mensahe at magtungo sa PCA-Albay Research Center.

Bilang pakikiisa sa pagdiriwang ng Pambansang Buwan ng mga kababaihan na may temang, "Babae sa lahat ng sektor, aangat ang bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas," patuloy ang pagsusulong ng mga kaalaman at teknolohiya na mas inklusibo para sa pagpapaunlad ng industriya ng niyog. Ano ang Republic Act 11524?

Ang CFITF Act o Republic Act No. 11524 ay naisabatas noong 2021. Layunin nito na mapabuti ang pamumuhay ng mga magsasaka ng niyog sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay ng iba’t ibang programa, proyekto, at serbisyo na magpapataas sa kanilang ani at kita.

𝐁𝐈𝐑 𝐞𝐱𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐮𝐭 𝐬𝐮𝐠𝐚𝐫 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐕𝐀𝐓

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) issued a ruling declaring coconut sap sugar as value added tax (VAT) exempt agricultural product through its letter to the Philippine Coconut Authority dated 15 November 2024.

This was the Bureau’s response to the stakeholders’ and Authority’s request for the classification of coconut sap sugar as raw sugar and consequently be considered as VAT exempt agricultural product, pursuant to Section 109 (1)(A) of the National Internal Revenue Code (NIRC) of 1997, as amended (Tax Code).

The ruling was based on the simplicity of the process steps of production in accordance with the definition of agricultural product “in original state” in the NIRC and the BIR Revenue Regulation No. 8-2015 dated May 22, 2015, i.e., polarization reading of less than 99.5° and color greater than 800 IU.

With the issuance of this ruling, processors are expected to revise their product costing to make coconut sap sugar more competitive and eventually benefit the coconut farmer producers and coconut sap harvesters.

Stakeholders are also expected to ensure adherence or conformity with the standards and comply with regulations for sustainability.

Furthermore, this promotes healthy consumerism in the country by giving end users another healthy sweetener option at a reasonable price. Coconut sap sugar is produced by boiling pure fresh coconut sap, and has a low glycemic index (GI) of ±35 (source: https://bit.ly/4hBEJZc), making it a good alternative to refined cane sugar.

Quezon City—The Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) marked a historic feat as it received its ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System certification from TÜV SÜD PSB Philippines Inc. during the Year-End Employee Appreciation and Accomplishments Presentation Day.

The certification underscores PCA’s unwavering commitment to quality service, operational efficiency, and excellence in supporting the country’s coconut industry. A TÜV SÜD representative formally handed over the certificate to PCA Administrator Dr. Dexter R. Buted and the agency’s key officials in a ceremony that highlighted the culmination of PCA’s rigorous journey toward ISO accreditation.

The event also celebrated PCA’s year-long initiatives aimed at aligning its processes with global standards. The ISO journey began with a series of workshops, including an ISO 9001:2015 reorientation in April and an internal audit refresher in May. These activities, facilitated by quality assurance experts from Pangasinan State University and Universidad de Dagupan, equipped PCA personnel with tools and strategies for continuous improvement.

The certification journey included extensive internal audits, development of a comprehensive Quality Management System manual, and a second-party audit conducted in August. Each step demonstrated PCA’s commitment to enhancing customer satisfaction, improving operational processes, and adhering to international quality standards.

PCA’s pursuit of ISO certification aligns with the government’s broader efforts to promote accountability, efficiency, and excellence in public service. Under the leadership of Administrator Buted and in partnership with the Department of Agriculture, the agency remains steadfast in its mandate to uplift the lives of coconut farmers while ensuring sustainability in the coconut sector.

The Year-End Employee Appreciation and Accomplishments Presentation Day also served as an avenue to recognize the dedication of PCA’s workforce.
