The water supply for the Municipalities of Bayombong and Solano in the province of Nueva Vizcaya was constructed in 1960.
Development for public water supply was started at Barobbob Spring at the flank of mt. Pawac, pursuant to PD 424 the system applied for water permit at the National Water Resources Board. The board approved 11.66 litters of water per second and transmitted by a 5.5 km long 200mm transmission pipes to the reservoir tank. The reservoir tank was constructed on the hill of La Torre with a volume of 1,900 cum/day.
The construction cost of the system was financed with a loan from the National Government.
I. Water Source and Intake facilities:
The water source of the Provincial Waterworks System depend solely on Barobbob spring that is located at a high altitude of 435 meters above sea level that can supply water through gravity to Bayombong with an altitude of 270 meters and Solano with 255 meters.
Total yield of the spring is estimated at about 10,300cum/day. Waterworks entitled one third of the total yield (3,433 cum/day) while two third goes to spilt (6,866 cum/day).
II. Transmission Facilities: The transmission pipes 8’’ dia. Or 200 mm dia was made up of cast iron and 5,500 M or 5.5km in total length, transmission was done by a gravitational force due to a mass volume of water from the intake box down to the reservoir tank for treatment before distributing to individual service lines.
III. Distribution Facilities:
The reservoir tank is on a hill 320 meters above sea level around 1 km north of the town of Bayombong Poblacion .It has a capacity of 1,900 cubic meters. It is an open reinforced concrete and covered by a structural roofing. Chlorination is applied by an electronic chlorinator that injects 0.05mg per part of water for safety use of consumers. The reservoir is operated in suc h a manner that outlet valve was closed during night time to store water and opened early in the morning . Cleaning and disinfecting was done twice a month for public safety.
The main distribution pipelines from the reservoir consist of 250mm or 10” dia.CIP to each served area ,and the distribution lines networks within each served area (200mm or 8’’dia. – 100mm or 4’’dia. CIP ).Service lines for individual consumers (1/2”dia.-1”dia. GIP ).
The two Municipalities have more than 2,500 households obtains public piped water supply , capacity and consumption are confirmed based on the reading of individual flow meter or water meter.
The system is managed by the Provincial Water works Office under the administration of PLGU Nueva Vizcaya.
