BENGUET AMONG PROVINCES UNDER WORK, CLASS SUSPENSION ON AUG. 6
Benguet is among the provinces placed under the suspension of work in government offices and classes at all levels on Thursday, August 6, following the issuance of Memorandum Circular No. 122 by Malacañang amid the continued heavy rainfall caused by Tropical Storm Maymay and the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).
The memorandum, signed by Acting Executive Secretary Ralph G. Recto by authority of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., covers the National Capital Region and several provinces, including Benguet, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Zambales, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Nueva Vizcaya, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, and Occidental Mindoro.
The suspension was issued upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) to ensure public safety amid the adverse weather conditions affecting various parts of the country.
Under the memorandum, government agencies involved in the delivery of basic and health services, disaster preparedness and response, and other essential public services shall continue their operations to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of critical services.
Meanwhile, the suspension of work in private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective management.
Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas continues to remind residents to remain alert, monitor weather advisories issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) and local authorities, and observe necessary precautions as heavy rains continue to affect the province.
