📌 HIGHLIGHTS OF THE 30th REGULAR MEETING OF THE SANGGUNIANG BAYAN OF LA TRINIDAD, BENGUET
July 28, 2026
The Sangguniang Bayan of La Trinidad, Benguet, headed by Hon. Guiller A. Galwan, Municipal Vice Mayor and Presiding Officer, successfully conducted its 30th Regular Meeting, where significant legislative matters, committee reports, and municipal concerns were discussed and acted upon.
🔹 CONSULTATION HOUR
The Sanggunian welcomed concerned stakeholders and discussed key issues affecting the municipality, including:
• The boundary dispute between Barangay Bineng, La Trinidad and Barangay Banengbeng, Sablan, Benguet, presented by Punong Barangay Dixon Wakat; and
• Updates and interventions on the African Swine Fever (ASF) situation presented by Municipal Agriculturist Ms. Nida Organo.
🔹 LEGISLATIVE DELIBERATIONS
The Sanggunian tackled several proposed ordinances, including measures on:
✅ Support programs for vegetable and cutflower farmers affected by oversupply and market challenges;
✅ Amendments to the La Trinidad Traffic Safety and Management Code of 2022;
✅ Promotion of authentic indigenous handwoven textiles and indigenous signages in public facilities;
✅ Consumer protection and welfare;
✅ Institutionalization of women sectoral representation in the Sangguniang Bayan; and
✅ Support for the “Build A School, Build A Nation: The Classroom Project” through the grant of applicable local fee exemptions.
🔹 COMMITTEE REPORTS AND LOCAL GOVERNANCE MATTERS
The body deliberated on various committee reports involving:
• Barangay budget reviews and fund realignments;
• Renewal of partnership with DENR and the Girl Scouts of the Philippines for the conservation of communal forests;
• Review of barangay measures on breastfeeding promotion, assistance for VAWC survivors, and solid waste management; and
• Appropriations related to newly created municipal positions.
🔹 NEW PROPOSED MEASURES AND RESOLUTIONS
The Sanggunian received and referred various legislative proposals, including initiatives concerning:
• Persons with Disability (PWD) awareness and inclusion;
• Philippine Sea Education Awareness Program;
• Political boundary concerns;
• Environmental governance and subdivision regulation; and
• Consumer protection against unfair business practices, including underweighing and defective weighing scales.
🔹 IMPORTANT COMMUNICATIONS AND INFORMATION MATTERS
The Sanggunian also took note of several communications involving:
• Proposed amendments to the La Trinidad Early Childhood Care and Development Ordinance;
• Policy initiatives on internship deployment and peaceful electoral processes;
• Infrastructure project updates;
• Accreditation requests from local organizations; and
• Various Executive Orders and Administrative Orders supporting municipal programs on sports development, social welfare, scholarship assistance, environmental management, agriculture, public market operations, and digital governance.
🔹 PERSONS WITH DISABILITY OFFICIALS FOR A DAY (PDOFAD) RESOLUTIONS
The body received resolutions advocating for stronger inclusion and support for persons with disabilities, including:
• Improved accessibility of public facilities;
• Establishment of PWD-focused programs and opportunities;
• Scholarship and employment initiatives; and
• Enhanced assistance services in public institutions.
Through continued collaboration and responsive legislation, the Sangguniang Bayan of La Trinidad remains committed to advancing inclusive governance, protecting community welfare, and promoting sustainable development for all constituents.
