. Pursuant to the directive of the Office of the President through Memorandum Circular No. 134 and in view of the continuous inclement weather, Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas said face-to-face classes in all levels (private and public educational institutions) are suspended on Friday, September 4.

According to the memorandum, schools shall implement appropriate alternative learning modalities and other learning continuity measures, as may be feasible, to ensure that learning activities continue while face-to-face classes are suspended.

. Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas, through Executive Order No. 2026-68, has ordered the suspension of face-to-face classes from preschool to senior high school, including the ALS (both private and public educational institutions), in the Province of Benguet tomorrow, September 3, 2026, due to the inclement weather.

Schools are encouraged to implement appropriate alternative learning modalities and other learning continuity measures, as may be feasible, to ensure that learning activities continue while face-to-face classes are suspended.

ALTERNATIVE WORK ARRANGEMENTS SET IN BENGUET, OTHER AREAS ON SEPT. 1 AMID HEAVY RAINS

Government offices in Benguet are directed to implement appropriate alternative work arrangements on September 1, 2026, amid the anticipated continued heavy rainfall associated with the enhanced Southwest Monsoon or Habagat.

The directive is contained in Memorandum Circular No. 133 issued by the Office of the President on August 31, upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

The circular covers Benguet and 14 other areas in Luzon, including Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Apayao, Batanes, Nueva Vizcaya, Zambales, Tarlac, Pampanga, and Bataan.

According to the memorandum, the measure is being implemented in anticipation of continued heavy rainfall that may result in urban flooding and traffic disruptions.

Despite the alternative work arrangements, agencies responsible for the delivery of basic and health services, disaster preparedness and response, and other vital services are required to continue their operations and provide necessary services.

The circular also provides that Contract of Service (COS) and Job Order (JO) workers who are placed under alternative work arrangements shall continue to receive their corresponding wages or salaries, subject to existing rules and regulations.

Meanwhile, unless otherwise directed by their respective local chief executives, public and private schools at all levels in the said areas shall implement alternative learning modes and learning continuity measures.

For the private sector, any suspension of work or adoption of alternative work arrangements shall remain at the discretion of management.
