Happening Now: Livelihood Orientation for TUPAD Beneficiaries

The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of Local Government Unit of Bislig is currently conducting a Livelihood Orientation for 50 TUPAD beneficiaries, providing them with opportunities to explore sustainable livelihood programs and income-generating activities.

The orientation, led by PESO Manager Ms. Laine S. Elechicon, highlights the various programs and services available through PESO. Participants are also being introduced to the skills training programs offered by the Bislig City Skills Training Center (BCSTC) which aim to enhance their skills, improve their employability, and empower them to pursue sustainable sources of income.

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Bislig, under the leadership of Mayor Florencio C. Garay, is activily participated in the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Regional Likhang Marino Business Plan Competition, representing the Sea-Based OFW Category on August 05, 2026 at DMW Regional Office - CARAGA, Butuan City.
This opportunity was made possible through the support and facilitation of the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Bislig, headed by Ms. Laine S. Elechicon. Representing Bislig City is Mr. Luis Carmona, a returning seafarer with his business proposal, Masaganang Mais Agri-Farm: Pure Corn Coffee Products.
The LGU of Bislig extends its full support and wishes Mr. Carmona success as he proudly represents the city in this prestigious regional competition.

Direktang gihatud sa Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Caraga Region ang medical assistance ngadto sa duha (2) ka Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) sa Bislig City nga nag-atubang og seryosong kahimtang sa panglawas. Ang kinatibuk-ang kantidad sa tabang nga ilang nadawat mikabat og ₱150,000.00, nga dakong hinabang alang sa ilang padayon nga pagtambal ug pagpaayo sa ilang kahimtang sa panglawas.
Nahimong posible kini pinaagi sa lig-on nga panagtambayayong tali sa Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Caraga Region ug sa Local Government Unit of Bislig ubos sa pagpangulo ni Mayor Florencio C. Garay, nga girepresentahan ni Ms. Lorie Ann G. Hilongos, Consultant for Migrant Workers, uban sa koordinasyon sa Public Employment Service Office (PESO) nga gipangulohan ni Ms. Laine S. Elechicon, SLEO/PESO Manager.
Kini nga inisyatibo nagpakita sa padayon nga paningkamot sa DMW Caraga ug sa LGU Bislig sa pag-atiman sa kaayohan sa mga OFWs pinaagi sa paghatag og angay ug tukmang serbisyo, ilabi na sa panahon sa ilang panginahanglan. Nagpadayon usab ang LGU Bislig ug ang PESO sa pagpalig-on sa ilang mga programa aron masiguro nga ang mga OFWs ug ilang mga pamilya makadawat sa hustong suporta, proteksyon, ug kaayohan gikan sa nagkadaiyang serbisyo sa gobyerno.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) – Surigao del Sur Field Office, under the supervision of Ms. Genebelle B. Bal, Provincial In-Charge of DOLE-SDS, in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Bislig City under the leadership of Mayor Florencio C. Garay, through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) headed by Ms. Laine S. Elechicon, SLEO/PESO Manager, successfully conducted a Technical and Advisory Visit (TAV) on General Labor Standards (GLS) and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Compliance for ninety (90) owners and representatives of micro establishments in Bislig City on July 1, 2026.
The activity was carried out in coordination with the DOLE-SDS Team led by Ms. Romelyn B. Bactol, Senior Labor and Employment Officer (SLEO), and aimed to strengthen compliance with labor laws, promote safe and healthy workplaces, and provide technical guidance and advisory support to participating establishments.
The event was graced by Mr. Shem G. Garay, Executive Assistant III, who represented the Office of the City Mayor. In his message, he conveyed the city's appreciation to the DOLE Surigao del Sur Field Office for its continued partnership in advancing decent work and strengthening labor standards in Bislig City. He also acknowledged the agency's unwavering commitment to empowering employers and workers through labor education, technical assistance, and programs that contribute to safer, lawful, and more productive workplaces.

Bislig City Supports OFW Entrepreneurship Through DOST IFWD PH Business Caravan

The Local Government Unit of Bislig City, under the leadership of Mayor Florencio C. Garay, actively participated in the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Caraga’s Innovations for Filipinos Working Distantly from the Philippines (IFWD PH) OFW Business Caravan held on June 9, 2026, at Delymar Restaurant, Bislig City.
The activity was spearheaded by DOST Caraga through Assistant Regional Director Ricardo N. Valera, in partnership with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Caraga, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Caraga, and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Caraga.
More than thirty-five (35) Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) from Bislig City participated in the caravan and attended an orientation on the DOST IFWD PH Program. Participants were also introduced to the various programs, services, and livelihood opportunities offered by DOST, DTI, DMW, and OWWA, aimed at empowering OFWs and their families through entrepreneurship and sustainable economic opportunities.
The activity was graced by the presence of Mr. Shem G. Garay, representing the City Mayor’s Office of Bislig City, who expressed the local government's continued support for initiatives that promote the welfare and economic advancement of OFWs.
