Engineer Support Company, 52nd EBde, PA

On 12 September 2026, at around 11:45 PM, the Sumilao Emergency Response Team received a report from the PNP regarding a vehicular accident at Sitio Langga, Barangay San Vicente, Sumilao, Bukidnon. A Fuso Fighter forward truck lost control, fell, and submerged in the Tagoloan River. Fortunately, the driver and two passengers sustained only minor injuries.

On 15 September 2026, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Sumilao requested assistance from the 52nd Engineer Brigade, Philippine Army, for the recovery of the accident-involved vehicle due to its weight and difficult location.

On 16 September 2026, the Engineer Support (Kabis-ay) Company (ESC), 52nd Engineer Brigade, Philippine Army, was tasked to conduct the retrieval operation. Upon the approval and guidance of the Commanding Officer, CPT MC COLUMBUS F CATAYLO (CE) PA, a reconnaissance was conducted to assess the site and determine the appropriate recovery method.

On 19 September 2026, ESC deployed one (1) Prime Mover with mounted winch, one (1) Scoop Loader with operator, and a team of personnel for the retrieval operation. The operation lasted for two (2) days and was successfully completed through proper coordination, teamwork, and the effective employment of engineering equipment.

The ESC sincerely appreciates the residents of Sitio Langga, Barangay San Vicente, Sumilao, led by Mr. John Racaza, for their valuable assistance throughout the operation. Their cooperation greatly contributed to the safe and successful recovery of the vehicle.

On September 11, 2026, the Engineer Support (Kabis-ay) Company, 52nd Engineer Brigade, Philippine Army, actively participated in the National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED). The activity was conducted to strengthen the preparedness, awareness, and response capabilities of the personnel in the event of an earthquake or other similar emergencies.

The drill emphasized the importance of proper earthquake safety procedures, particularly the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” protocol, as well as the prompt and coordinated response of personnel during emergency situations.

Through this activity, the unit continues to promote a culture of disaster preparedness, safety, and readiness, ensuring that its personnel remain capable and responsive in times of emergencies and disasters.

Engineering Support Extends To Maluko National High School

On August 04, 2026, Maluko National High School formally requested assistance from the Engineer Support (Kabis-ay) Company, 52nd Engineer Brigade, Philippine Army, for the scraping and leveling of their school oval in preparation for the upcoming Intramurals of Maluko National High School and Maluko Central Elementary School scheduled on August 28–29 2026.

In response to the request, CPT MC COLUMBUS F CATAYLO (CE) PA, Commanding Officer, Engineer Support (Kabis-ay) Company, 52nd Engineer Brigade, Philippine Army, initiated the coordination and identification of available engineering equipment to support the school's requirement.

On August 18, 2026, CPT MC COLUMBUS F CATAYLO (CE) PA approved the provision of engineering support to the school. Subsequently, on August 19, 2026, the Engineer Support (Kabis-ay) Company deployed one (1) Motor Grader, operated by Cpl Rhayan Mark L Aballer (CE) PA, to conduct the requested scraping and leveling of the school oval.

The activity was successfully completed after two (2) days of continuous work, providing Maluko National High School with a more suitable and conducive playing field for the upcoming athletic activities.

This undertaking highlights the commitment of the Engineer Support (Kabis-ay) Company to providing responsive engineering assistance and strengthening partnership with schools and communities within its area of responsibility.

Through its engineering capabilities, the Philippine Army continues to support initiatives that contribute to the safety, development, and welfare of the Filipino youth.
