In support of the Luntiang Bukas Program, the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Palo has distributed indigenous tree seedlings to local government units to strengthen environmental restoration through ecosystem rehabilitation, the expansion of urban green infrastructure, and the promotion of massive tree-planting initiatives.

The Local Government Unit of Burauen, through the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), proudly took part in this initiative by retrieving 3,100 indigenous tree seedlings from CENRO Palo on August 3, 2026. These seedlings will support the Municipalityโ€™s ongoing efforts in forest and forestland protection, rehabilitation, biodiversity conservation, and climate resilience.

๐ŸŒณ Calling all Burawanons!

Be part of our mission to create a greener and healthier Burauen! Individuals, schools, barangays, organizations, and institutions interested in planting trees are encouraged to coordinate with the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) for seedling availability and planting assistance.

Together, let us restore our forests, protect our environment, and leave a lasting legacy for the next generation.

Letโ€™s plant today for a greener tomorrow! ๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒฟ

โ™ป๏ธ Promoting Responsible Waste Management in Brgy. Arado! ๐ŸŒฑ

The Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) of Burauen conducted a Solid Waste Management Orientation during the Disaster Risk Reduction and Managementโ€“Climate Change Adaptation, Resilient & Green Community, Fire & Safety, and Urban Gardening Training organized by the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP). The activity was attended by members of the Cool Spring Residences Homeowners Association, Inc. in Barangay Arado, Burauen, Leyte.

Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer Ann Carla A. Ferrer discussed the proper operation and maintenance of the newly established Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) and compost pit located within the Cool Spring Residences, a project made possible through the leadership of Punong Barangay Hon. Angelita Quimbo and the support of the barangay.

Mrs. Ferrer also reminded the residents of the Municipality's garbage collection schedule and emphasized the importance of proper waste segregation and responsible waste disposal. She further explained how improper waste disposal contributes to climate change, flooding, and other environmental problems, highlighting the vital role of every household in protecting the environment through proper waste management practices.

She likewise introduced MENRO's waste diversion initiatives, including the Edukasyon at Basura: Basura to Ayuda Program and May Bigas Din sa Basura, which encourage recycling while providing incentives to participating residents.

Through continuous environmental education and community cooperation, Burauen moves one step closer to becoming a cleaner, greener, and more resilient municipality. Together, let us make responsible waste management a daily habit for a healthier environment and a better future for all. ๐ŸŒ
