BSWM Conducts Georesistivity Survey for Potential Irrigation Water Sources in Carles🌾

The Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM), in partnership with the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) – Carles, conducted a georesistivity survey today in selected barangays in mainland Carles to identify possible underground water sources that may be suitable for irrigation development.

The activity aims to assess subsurface conditions and locate potential groundwater sources that can support agricultural production and improve water availability for farmers.

The georesistivity survey will continue tomorrow in selected island barangays of Carles, extending the assessment to other agricultural areas in the municipality.

This initiative highlights the continued collaboration between national and local government agencies in promoting sustainable agricultural development, improved irrigation access, and climate-resilient farming communities. # #

OJT Trainees Successfully Complete On-the-Job Training at the Municipal Agriculture Office – Carles, Iloilo

The Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) – Carles, Iloilo proudly congratulates the 21 On-the-Job Trainees who successfully completed their internship program. The trainees consisted of 17 Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology students from the Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology (ISUFST) – Tiwi Campus and 4 Bachelor of Science in Fisheries students from the Northern Iloilo State University (NISU) – Estancia Main Campus.

Throughout their training, the students gained valuable knowledge and hands-on experience in various fisheries and coastal resource management activities, including mangrove assessment, seagrass assessment, basic internal and external fish anatomy identification, fish species identification, and SCUBA diving equipment identification, including its functions, proper use, and practical pool diving activities.

These learning experiences have equipped the trainees with essential skills and practical insights that will serve as a strong foundation in their academic pursuits and future careers as marine biologists and fisheries professionals.

The Municipal Agriculture Office – Carles is honored to have been part of this significant milestone in the students' educational journey. We remain committed to providing meaningful learning opportunities and are confident that the knowledge, skills, and values imparted during their internship will contribute positively to their professional growth and inspire them to become competent stewards of our marine and fisheries resources.
