The Local Government Unit of Carmen extends its sincere gratitude to the City Government of Davao, under the leadership of City Mayor Sebastian โ€œBasteโ€ Duterte, along with the city officials and the people of Davao City, for the โ‚ฑ300,000 financial assistance extended to LGU Carmen in response to the damages caused by Tropical Storm Basyang.

Through the Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), led by PLTCOL Alfredo D. Baloran, the cheque was personally delivered to the municipality. Mayor Nestor S. Valeroso and LGU officials warmly welcomed the Davao City personnel and expressed their heartfelt appreciation.

This generous support is a powerful reminder that in times of adversity, unity and compassion among local governments give communities the strength to rise, rebuild, and move forward stronger.

"Roads connect our economy, but we must never compromise the protection of our environment." โ€” Mayor Nestor S. Valeroso

Despite his busy scheduleโ€”and even while celebrating his birthdayโ€”Mayor Nestor S. Valeroso took the initiative to convene an Inter-Agency Forum on Forest Protection, a proactive step to safeguard Carmenโ€™s environment.

The forum was organized following the recommendation from last monthโ€™s environmental trek conducted by the LGU team led by Jane Plaza. Its purpose was clear: to ensure that development moves forward responsiblyโ€”without causing destruction to our forests.

The discussion focused on the proposed diversion road project from Lanuza to Cabadbaran, which, based on the proposed alignment, will traverse parts of the Municipality of Carmenโ€”particularly the protected areas of Sitio Tabinas and Sitio Bayabas.

The Municipality of Carmen recognizes that roads connect economies and create opportunities for our people. However, we firmly uphold that progress must never come at the expense of our natural resources.

The forum was attended by SB Member Tanie S. Quillano, MENRO, Tourism Office, MEO, MLGOO, representatives from the DPWH (regional and provincial offices), DENR- PENRO, CENRO, NCIP, the project contractors, and the representative from the office of Romeo S. Momo.

All agencies collectively agreed to work hand in hand to ensure that forest protection remains a priority while pursuing infrastructure development.

Together, we protect our forests todayโ€”so we can build a stronger and more sustainable Carmen for generations to come. ๐ŸŒฟ

Happy Birthday, Mayor Nestor S. Valeroso! ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‚

As you celebrate another year of life, we also celebrate a meaningful and impactful year of your leadership as Municipal Mayor of Carmen. In just few months of service, you have inspired not only the LGU personnel but the entire community of Carmen to persevere, to work harder, and to strive toward achieving their goals in life.

Despite the many challenges we have faced as a municipality, you have remained hopeful, resilient, and firmly focused on the future. In moments of uncertainty, you chose courage over fear and vision over doubt. Your steady leadership has given reassurance to your people that Carmen is in capable and caring hands.

As a growing municipality, Carmen continues to dream bigger under your guidance. You have shown that true leadership requires not only strength and competence, but also a big heart. Your compassionโ€”especially during times of calamity and needโ€”proves that your public service is deeply rooted in genuine care for every Carmenon.

You possess the power of imaginationโ€”the rare ability to see not only what Carmen is today, but what it has the potential to become. That vision serves as the driving force behind progress, inspiring innovation, encouraging collaboration, and uplifting both the municipality and its people. Because of your determination and forward-thinking mindset, many now believe more strongly in a brighter, stronger, and more progressive Carmen.

Your commitment to serve is evident in everything you do. For you, leadership is not merely a positionโ€”it is a responsibility carried with dedication, humility, and heart. Despite the pressures and demands of public service, you remain steadfast, always placing the welfare of the people first.

You have motivated government employees to serve with integrity and excellence, and you have encouraged every Carmenon to remain hopeful, resilient, and determined. Through your leadership, we are reminded that progress is achieved through unity, hard work, perseverance, and faith in a better tomorrow.

Mayor, your service is more than a dutyโ€”it is a mission grounded in sincere love for your town and your people.

May God bless you with good health, renewed strength, and greater wisdom as you continue leading Carmen toward sustained growth and brighter opportunities for all.
Happy Birthday, Mayor! ๐ŸŽˆ๐ŸŽŠ

LGU Carmen Brings Hope and Relief to Remote Communities

Last Tuesday, through the order of Mayor Nestor S. Valeroso, the LGU Carmen undertook a remarkable mission to deliver food packs, hygiene kits, and sacks of rice to Sitio Tabinas and Sitio Bayabas โ€” two of the most isolated communities in the area. Though these communities were not directly hit by Tropical Storm Basyang, the storm left the roads and bridges leading to them severely damaged. Reaching these areas now requires a two-hour motorbike ride followed by a steep hike, making access to basic necessities extremely difficult.

Despite these challenges, the dedicated team of LGU Carmen personnel, spearheaded by Vice Mayor Jane V. Plaza, worked tirelessly to bring much-needed aid to the communities. The team included the Municipal Engineering Office (MEO), which assessed road and bridge damage for rehabilitation; the Municipal Agriculturist Office (MAO), which evaluated agricultural losses; the Municipal Health Office (MHO), which provided essential health assistance and hygiene kits; and the Municipal Women and Development Office (MWDO), which facilitated the distribution of relief goods. Their coordinated efforts ensured that every need of the community was carefully addressed.

Special thanks to Cong. Romeo S. Momo, Sr. and Senator B**g Go for their generous contributions of support that made this relief effort possible. This mission is more than just aidโ€”it is a reminder that no community is too remote, no road too difficult, and no challenge too great when people come together to serve and uplift those in need.

Carmen: Where Progress Walks with Nature

The Local Government Unit of Carmen, led by the Vice Mayor together with our MENRO and MPDC, PNP Carmen and the 36th IB of the Philippine Army, recently undertook a two-day trek across our forests to assess the proposed Lanuzaโ€“Cabadbaran road project that will traverse parts of the forests of Carmen. This 24-kilometer trek of rugged trails and ridges allowed us to witness firsthand the terrain and potential impacts, ensuring that every development initiative will be carefully implemented.

In Carmen, leadership goes beyond the officeโ€”reaching even the most remote areas to safeguard our land and natural resources. Despite challenging terrain and weather, the team experienced the breathtaking beauty of our protected forests, where century-old trees stand tall and diverse wildlife thrives.

This trek is more than an assessmentโ€”it is a promise. A promise that in Carmen, if progress comes at the cost of nature, we walk wisely and we carefully choose what comes next. For the mountains we walk today are the inheritance of the generations that follow.

Exploring the Nature of Carmen ๐ŸŒฑ

Mayor Nestor S. Valeroso, together with LGU personnel, conducted a site visit to a proposed development site in the Municipality of Carmen.

As we continue to protect and preserve our forests, we also move forward in developing a sustainable agro-forestry areaโ€”one that supports agriculture, promotes eco-tourism, and creates livelihood opportunities for our people.

Here in Carmen, we believe that progress and environmental protection go hand in hand. Through sustainable agro-forestry development, we are transforming our natural resources into eco-tourism destinations while ensuring their long-term preservation.

Protecting nature today, building a greener Carmen tomorrow.
