The week‑long evaluation officially started today for the Friendly Garden Competition, covering the following categories:

SK Community Garden, Barangay Community Garden, School Learners’ Garden, and Purok Garden. The schedule below was determined through a draw‑lot system:

- July 20 – Barangay Poblacion, Carmen
- July 21 – Santa Cruz & San Vicente
- July 22 – Esperanza & Antao
- July 23 – Puyat & Cancavan
- July 24 – Hinapuyan, Gacub & Bayabas

The Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) leads the assessment which was divided into two teams:

- Team 1, C/o Mr. Angelou D. Esmejarda – covers all household backyard gardens
- Team 2, C/o Mrs. Emerlyn P. Penecitos – covers SK gardens, Barangay community gardens, all purok gardens, and school learners’ gardens

The evaluation was quite challenging, as high levels of preparation were observed in all puroks and participating households. Right after each assessment, constructive feedback was provided to all Purok leaders and council for further improvement.

The Local Government Unit of Carmen officially launched the Joint Celebration of Disaster Resilience, Nutrition, Health, Environment, and Sanitation Month, together with the Carmen Food Security Program—a celebration that reflects the municipality's collective commitment to building a stronger, healthier, greener, and more resilient Carmen.

The kick-off activities began with an energizing Zumba, followed by a Green Walk, and the planting of various vegetable crops at the LGU Demo Farm. These activities symbolize that resilience is built through action, good health starts with active communities, environmental protection begins with each one of us, and food security is strengthened through the productive use of our land.

As consistently advocated by Mayor Nestor S. Valeroso, "Walay dapat bakante nga yuta sa atong lungsod. Kon ato kining mapuslan, kita mismo ang unang makabenepisyo." Through the Carmen Food Security Program, the LGU continues to promote sustainable agriculture and encourages every Carmenanon to become an active partner in ensuring food security for every family.

The LGU Carmen invites all Carmenanons to actively participate in this month-long celebration as we strengthen disaster preparedness, promote healthy living, protect our environment, and work together toward a more sustainable and food-secure future.

The Local Government Unit of Carmen, Surigao del Sur, informs the public that, effective June 29, 2026, all Municipal Government Offices will resume the regular five (5)-day workweek pursuant to Executive Order No. 043, Series of 2026.

🕗 Office Hours:
Monday to Friday | 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M.

While regular office operations resume, all offices shall continue to observe energy conservation and efficiency measures in support of the government's ongoing energy-saving initiatives.
