The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region VII, through the Local Government Capability Development Division (LGCDD), participated in the 2nd Quarter Regional Development Council VII โ Economic Development Committee (RDC7-EDC) Meeting held on May 29, 2026 at the Department of Economy, Planning and Development (DepDev) Region VII, Sudlon, Lahug, Cebu City.
Representing the Regional Office, EnP Jerson O. Obo, MMEP, Assistant Chief of the LGCDD, discussed DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2020-167 entitled, โGuidelines on Promoting Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion Officers (LEDIPOs) and Establishment of LEDIP Office/Unit in all Provinces, Cities and Municipalities.โ He likewise presented the latest status of compliance by Central Visayas Local Government Units (LGUs) with the said memorandum. Through the presentation of the latest status report, DILG Region VII reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening local economic governance and assisting LGUs in establishing conducive environments for investment, entrepreneurship, and sustainable local economic growth.
The meeting served as a venue for inter-agency collaboration and policy discussions on key economic development concerns in the region. Presentations included the Economic Development Sector Chapters of the 2025 Regional Development Report, Food Map and Sufficiency Levels of Major Agricultural Commodities, the "Tugkaran Ko, Tamnan Ko" initiative, DA7 Programs, Activities and Projects (PAPs) for inclusion in the Regional Development Investment Program (RDIP) and FY 2027 Annual Investment Program, reporting of additional EDC members for the remainder of the 2025-2028 term, the Food Safety Awareness Program and Regional Food Safety Plan for Agriculture and Fisheries (CY 2026-2028), PAGTANAW 2050 Science, Technology and Innovation Agenda, alternative locations of fish ports and fish supply self-sufficiency levels, and early-maturing and drought-tolerant rice varieties.
DILG Region VII remains committed to collaborating with development partners and stakeholders in advancing economic growth, competitiveness, and inclusive development across Central Visayas.
