Around 50 youth leaders from across the Municipality of San Remigio successfully participated in the Day 1 of the three-day Basic Life Support (BLS) and Life Water Saving Training, an initiative organized by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) through its Gender and Development (GAD) Fund.
The training aims to strengthen the knowledge, skills, and preparedness of young leaders by equipping them with essential Basic Life Support competencies and basic water rescue and lifesaving techniques, enabling them to become effective first responders in their respective communities during emergencies and disasters.
The participants were warmly welcomed by MDRRMO Head Jan Reymund Frasco, who underscored the importance of building a culture of resilience and highlighted the vital role of the youth in disaster preparedness, emergency response, and community safety.
Also gracing the opening program was Vice Mayor Alphonsine C. Gonzales, who reaffirmed the local government's commitment to youth welfare by supporting programs that enhance the capabilities and leadership of young people through continuous capacity-building initiatives.
Meanwhile, Mayor Mariano Martinez inspired the participants with a message encouraging them not only to acquire life-saving skills but also to share and cascade the knowledge they gain to their respective organizations, schools, and communities, creating a ripple effect of preparedness and resilience throughout the municipality.
The first day of the training covered essential topics and hands-on demonstrations on:
โ
Understanding the Fundamentals of Basic Life Support (BLS)
โ
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
โ
Proper Bandaging Techniques for Various Emergency Situations
Indeed, the first day was filled with valuable learning experiences, practical skills, and renewed commitment from our youth leaders to become catalysts of safety, resilience, and service in their communities.
