This shares personal views of the author's involvement as co-founder of the Mindanao Coalition of Power Consumers (MCPC), re-organizer of the Association of Mindanao Rural Electric Cooperatives (AMRECO); founding programs such as the Institute of Power Sector Economics (IPSEc) and the Mindanao Congress of the Advocates of Renewable
Energy, Rural Electrification & Development (MinCARED), co-promoter of the AMRECO PSAG Corporation (PSAgCor), and a prime-mover of the Party List Consumers Alliance for Rural Energy (1-CARE). The author is basically an advocate on the rights of the consumers as the owners of the electric cooperatives. The structure itself calls for a wide ranging topics of empowerment and governance. The consumers want to see the distribution utility being managed or governed well--meaning it serves primarily the interest of the owners. Services of the supply of electricity and the competitive cost of the same. As re-organizer of AMRECO, the author co-founded the following programs:
1. The institute of power sector economics. IPSEc is an institution of distinct juridical personality which is appointed as the research and development arm of AMRECO (R&D). It is a program co-managed by the Mindanao University of Science & Technology, an academic institution privileged with experts in the field of electric power systems economics.
2. MinCARED is a program to annually or regularly convene advocates of rural electrification and renewable energy under the context of mindanao economic development. The same is a platform for policy advocacy of the sector from the point of view of consumers to the policy making bodies. PSAgCor provides solution for the supply crises in Mindanao by attracting investors through aggregating the demand of the utilities. PSAgCor is the institutional face of the long provided vision on joint actions and undertakings of the ECs as people's enterprise. It facilitates more participation of ordinary consumers in the power generation business. The 1 CARE party list is a platform of Mindanao consumers in the legislative mill. It is the political arm of the movement. This blog is on points of views based on experiences and actual events in the power industry. It is also a result of activity participation of Clint Pacana, with the end in view of informing the general public of the issues in the said sector, with bias towards consumer protection and promotion of equitable distribution of wealth. EMpower the consumers, is a theme--a vision to provide economic power to electricity consumers in general, and to Mindanaoans in particular, by providing the right information.
