Indeed a very inspiring article to Cortesanon !

WOMEN’S participation in the fisheries sector is less acknowledged because it is mostly dominated by men. However, it’s a different story when I worked as a Coastal Resource Management (CRM) staff of the municipality of Cortes, Surigao del Sur between 2014 until February 2015.

Cortes launch a Color coding scheme of fishing boats as part of CRM initiatives through fishery management and conservation..
The program aims to promote fisheries welfare of Cortesanon wherein small-scale fisherfolks can fish abundantly within its municipal waters,free from poaching and intrusion of some commercial fishing vessel from other municipality and province..This is also part of the CRM-Cortes strategic planning wherein illegal fishers or " so called Colorum" will emmediately apprehended and identified by Municipal bantay dagat and MPATs.

Local fisherman from Cortes caught 1 big Jack (38 kls.) from Kawit Bank through hook and line..This is the proposed site where TURF/Special Fisheries Management Zone will be established..If this area will be exclusively utilized by Cortes fishers, this will probably increase their income....
