The Office of the Parliament Speaker Mohammad S. Yacob, Ph.D., strongly denounces the circulating allegations regarding an alleged change in the leadership of the Parliament, emphasizing that these claims are entirely unfounded and misleading. Furthermore, the spread of unverified information only creates confusion, political tension, and instability during this crucial period of the Bangsamoro transition.

The Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Parliament remains firmly committed to its constitutional and moral duty of serving the Bangsamoro people. As the transition period nears its conclusion, the institution continues to focus on legislation, governance, and programs that strengthen the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region.

We likewise call on stakeholders, public officials, media practitioners, and the general public to exercise responsibility and prudence in sharing information that may affect public trust and institutional stability.

OSAA Concludes Three-Day Earthquake and Fire Safety Seminar

The Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms (OSAA) Security Support successfully concluded its three-day Earthquake and Fire Safety Seminar participated in by personnel from various organic offices and the Offices of the Members of Parliament of the Bangsamoro Parliament. Conducted in partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and facilitated by SF01 Jimi P. Kinazo, FO2 Anthony G. Henilo, FO2 John Marco V. Obed, and FO1 Habib P. Idsla, the activity featured lectures, drills, and hands-on demonstrations on earthquake preparedness, emergency evacuation, fire suppression, and proper use of firefighting equipment. The seminar forms part of OSAA’s continuing efforts to strengthen disaster preparedness and promote a culture of safety and resilience within the Bangsamoro Parliament.

Earthquake and Fire Safety Seminar (Batch 2)

The Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms (OSAA) Security Support continued its emergency preparedness initiatives through the successful conduct of Batch 2 of the Earthquake and Fire Safety Seminar, participated in by staff from the Offices of the Members of Parliament and various organic offices of the Bangsamoro Parliament. Conducted in collaboration with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the activity was facilitated by SF01 Jimi P. Kinazo, FO2 Anthony G. Henilo, FO2 John Marco V. Obed, and FO1 Habib P. Idsla, who shared valuable knowledge and practical techniques on disaster response and fire safety management.

Participants engaged in interactive discussions and simulation exercises focused on earthquake preparedness, emergency evacuation procedures, and the proper handling of firefighting equipment. The activity also featured actual demonstrations on fire suppression and emergency response protocols aimed at enhancing the capability, awareness, and readiness of Parliament personnel during critical incidents. The seminar forms part of OSAA’s continuing efforts to promote a safe, resilient, and disaster-ready working environment within the Bangsamoro Parliament.

OSAA Conducts Earthquake and Fire Safety Seminar (Batch 1)

The Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms (OSAA), headed by Abdulgani Caludtiag, successfully conducted Batch 1 of the Earthquake and Fire Safety Seminar yesterday, bringing together representatives from various organic offices in a proactive effort to strengthen institutional safety and emergency preparedness.

The activity, conducted in partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and led by SF01 Jimi P. Kinazo, FO2 Anthony G. Henilo, FO2 John Marco V. Obed, and FO1 Habib P. Idsla, underscored the critical importance of preparedness, coordination, and effective response during emergencies such as earthquakes and fire incidents. Blending engaging lectures with hands-on demonstrations, the seminar ensured that participants gained not only essential knowledge but also practical skills for real-life emergency situations.

A key component of the training was the earthquake drill, during which participants practiced the standard “duck, cover, and hold” procedure, followed by an organized evacuation. This exercise emphasized situational awareness, discipline, and the importance of maintaining clear evacuation routes within Parliament premises.

In addition, BFP personnel conducted a fire safety demonstration, orienting participants on the proper use of fire extinguishers and basic fire suppression techniques. Attendees were given the opportunity to personally handle firefighting equipment, thereby reinforcing their confidence and competence in responding to fire-related emergencies.

The seminar forms part of the continuing initiative of the OSAA to institutionalize a culture of safety, resilience, and preparedness within the Bangsamoro Parliament. Through strong inter-agency collaboration and continuous capacity-building activities, the Parliament aims to ensure the protection of lives, property, and the continuity of government operations in times of crisis.

Further batches of the training are expected to follow, covering more personnel and strengthening the overall emergency response capability of the institution.

ATM: OSAA–SSS is currently coordinating with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) for the upcoming fire safety and emergency response trainings. The meeting focuses on aligning training plans, procedures, and logistics to ensure Parliament security personnel are fully prepared for fire-related incidents and emergencies.

Orientation for Newly Hired Senior Parliament Police Officers

On April 22, the Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms – Security Support Section (OSAA–SSS) conducted an orientation for newly hired Senior Parliament Police Officers, formerly known as Legislative Police, who will be deployed to the offices of Members of Parliament.

The activity aimed to formally introduce the personnel to the mandates, protocols, and professional standards expected within the Bangsamoro Parliament. It covered key areas such as parliamentary security procedures, workplace conduct, coordination mechanisms with Members of Parliament and staff, and the roles and responsibilities specific to their assignments.

The orientation also emphasized discipline, confidentiality, and service excellence, highlighting the vital role of Senior Parliament Police Officers in maintaining order, security, and professionalism within parliamentary offices.

Through this initiative, OSAA–SSS continues to strengthen its personnel by ensuring they are well-prepared, informed, and aligned with the core values and operational standards of the Bangsamoro Parliament.
