MIPA-BARMM Releases Financial Assistance Under Tawid Pangarap and Fendoyugen Flindagan Programs

June 4, 2026 — The Ministry of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MIPA-BARMM) formally distributed financial assistance to beneficiaries under its Tawid Pangarap Program and Project Fendoyugen Flindagan Program, reinforcing its commitment to empowering Indigenous Peoples (IPs) through education and sustainable development.

Under the Tawid Pangarap Program, Indigenous students enrolled in Law and Medical courses each received PHP 35,000.00 in educational assistance. The initiative aims to support Indigenous youth in pursuing higher education and completing professional degrees, helping create future Indigenous leaders and professionals within their communities.

Meanwhile, through the Project Fendoyugen Flindagan Program, 50 Indigenous farmers each received PHP 12,000.00 in financial support. The program is designed to strengthen agricultural productivity while promoting climate change mitigation initiatives among Indigenous communities.

These programs reflect MIPA-BARMM’s continuing efforts to provide meaningful opportunities for Indigenous Peoples by investing in education, advancing sustainable agriculture, and building resilient communities across the Bangsamoro region.

MIPA-BARMM emphasized that empowering Indigenous youth and supporting local farmers remain essential steps toward inclusive growth and long-term community development.

MIPA-BARMM Distributes Financial Assistance to 500 College Students and 200 Farmers Through the TDIF Program

June 2, 2026 – Upi, Maguindanao del Norte|| The Ministry of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MIPA-BARMM) successfully distributed financial assistance to 500 college students and 200 farmers through the Transitional Development Impact Fund (TDIF) initiative of Member of Parliament Hon. Ramon A. Piang, Sr.

A total of 700 beneficiaries from Wao, Special Geographic Area (SGA), Maguindanao del Sur, and Maguindanao del Norte benefited from the program. Each student received ₱10,000 in educational assistance, while each farmer received ₱15,000 to support their agricultural livelihood.

The distribution activity was attended by representatives from the Office of MP Ramon A. Piang, Sr., led by Chief of Staff Janito Rabelo, and MIPA-BARMM Minister Hon. Guiamal B. Abdulrahman.
In his message, Minister Abdulrahman expressed his gratitude to Hon. Ramon A. Piang, Sr. for his unwavering support to Indigenous Peoples (IPs) in the Bangsamoro region. He emphasized that the assistance program provides significant support to IP students pursuing higher education and to IP farmers striving to improve their agricultural productivity. The Minister also thanked the Member of Parliament for entrusting MIPA-BARMM with the implementation of the program.

Meanwhile, in a message delivered through his Chief of Staff, Janito Rabelo, MP Ramon A. Piang, Sr. reaffirmed that the initiative reflects his commitment to advancing education and strengthening agricultural development in the region. He underscored the importance of investing in the youth and supporting farmers as key contributors to community growth and economic progress.

The financial assistance program highlights the continuing efforts of the Bangsamoro Government and its partners to promote inclusive development and improve the welfare of Indigenous Peoples and other communities across BARMM.

MIPA School of the Living Traditions Facility Officially Turned Over in Upi, Maguindanao del Norte

UPI, Maguindanao del Norte— The official handover ceremony of the MIPA School of the Living Traditions (SLT) Facility was successfully conducted today, May 25, 2026, at the Upi Agricultural School in Upi, Maguindanao del Nort.

The event marked another milestone in the preservation and promotion of the rich cultural heritage of Indigenous Peoples (IPs) in the Bangsamoro region through the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs (MIPA-BARMM) and its partner institutions.

The SLT building project funded by the Support to Bangsamoro Transition (SUBATRA) Programme and implemented by UNOPS, the facility reflects continuing efforts to strengthen inclusive governance.

In his message, Guiamal B. Abdulrahman expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the establishment of the School of the Living Traditions Facility, emphasizing its significance to Indigenous communities.

“We are deeply grateful for the establishment of the School of the Living Traditions—an important project that will serve as a home for our culture, traditions, and identity as an Indigenous community. Through this initiative, we will be able to preserve and enrich our customs, arts, knowledge, and traditions inherited from our ancestors, and pass them on to the next generation,” the Minister stated.

He further emphasized that the project is not merely a structure or program, but a symbol of recognition, respect, and support for the culture and rights of Indigenous Peoples in the Bangsamoro region.

Present during the turnover ceremony were several distinguished officials and guests, including BPDA Bangsamoro Director General Engr. Mohajirin T. Ali, Member of Parliament Ramon A. Piang Sr., Assistant Senior Minister Abdullah D**g Cusain, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to the Philippines H.E. Miguel Utray Delgado, H.E. Massimo Santoro, Ambassador of the European Union to the Philippines, Senior Undersecretary Isidro L. Purisima and South Upi Mayor Hon.Helen Benito-Padua and representative of Upi Mayor Hon. Ma. Rona Cristina Piang-Glores.

The School of the Living Traditions Facility is expected to become a center for cultural learning, preservation, and intergenerational transfer of Indigenous knowledge, traditions, and practices for future generations.

Nagsagawa ang MIPA-BARMM ng Early Warning Early Response Training para sa Tribung Bajao sa Tawi-Tawi

Sa ilalim ng pamumuno ni Hon. Minister Guiamal B. Abdulrahman, patuloy na isinusulong ng Ministry of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs–BARMM (MIPA-BARMM), sa pamamagitan ng Gender and Development (GAD) Initiative, ang pagpapalakas ng kahandaan at katatagan ng mga pamayanang Katutubo sa panahon ng sakuna at emerhensiya.

Noong Mayo 20–21, 2026, matagumpay na isinagawa ng MIPA-BARMM ang Early Warning Early Response (EWER) Training on Basic Life Support para sa limampung (50) Indigenous Peoples na kabilang sa Tribung Bajao ng Barangay Lamion, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi.

Ang mga kalahok ay kabilang sa mga pamilyang lubhang naapektuhan ng malagim na insidente ng sunog na naganap noong Pebrero 2026. Sa kabila ng kanilang pinagdaanang pagsubok, patuloy silang nakatatanggap ng suporta, kaalaman, at mga capacity-building interventions na naglalayong mapalakas ang kanilang kahandaan at katatagan sa panahon ng emerhensiya at kalamidad.

Sa pamamagitan ng pagsasanay, nagkaroon ang mga kalahok ng mahahalagang kaalaman at praktikal na kasanayan sa basic life support, tamang pagtugon sa emerhensiya, at mga hakbang sa paghahanda sa sakuna upang maprotektahan ang kanilang sarili, pamilya, at komunidad sa panahon ng panganib.

Ipinapakita ng inisyatibong ito ang patuloy na dedikasyon at malasakit ni Hon. Minister Guiamal B. Abdulrahman sa pagbibigay kapangyarihan sa mga pamayanang Katutubo, lalo na sa mga sektor na higit na nangangailangan ng proteksiyon, tulong, at suporta.

Ang aktibidad na ito ay isa na namang mahalagang hakbang tungo sa pagbuo ng mas ligtas, mas handa, at mas matatag na mga pamayanang Katutubo sa buong Bangsamoro Region.

Phase II Validation for the Comprehensive Survey of Indigenous Peoples’ Populations in Lanao del Sur Successfully Conducted

The Ministry of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs–BARMM (MIPA-BARMM), under the leadership of Hon. Minister Guiamal B. Abdulrahman, successfully conducted the Phase II Validation of the Comprehensive Survey on Indigenous Peoples’ Populations in the municipalities of Amai Manabilang, Tagoloan II, and Kapai, Lanao del Sur.

The activity was spearheaded by Programs and Operations Division Chief Rosanne M. Imperial, MPA, together with officials and personnel of the ministry, as part of the continuing efforts to ensure the accuracy and legitimacy of the gathered data concerning Indigenous Peoples’ communities in the province of Lanao del Sur.

The validation activity became successful through the active participation, cooperation, and support of the Tribal Leaders and the respective Local Government Units (LGUs). The final validated results are scheduled to be presented to the Local Chief Executives, the Provincial Government, and the Bangsamoro Ministries, Offices Agencies (BMOAs).

Present during the validation activity were Planning Section Head Kate Shahanie O. Sindatukan; Ancestral Domain Division Chief Benito R. Algan Jr.; Joven U. Molanggana, Section Head for Research and Development; Public Relations Officer III Andic B. Maningula; and Harjean B. Gullon, Head of the Information Office of MIPA-DMO 1, together with Arch Angel D. Talindag.

The initiative forms part of MIPA-BARMM’s commitment to strengthening policies, programs, and interventions that uphold the rights, welfare, and recognition of Indigenous Peoples across the Bangsamoro Region.
