Municipality of Daguioman Official Tourism Page of the Local Government Unit of Daguioman. “During the war in 1889, it was believed that General Emilio Aguinaldo wanted to go to Kalinga.

He and his guerilla troops followed the old Spanish trail. The Americans, upon learning that Aguinaldo and his men fled to the Cordilleras, tried to pursue them and trailed through the old Spanish route. While they were on their way to Kalinga, they stopped over in a place where they saw a group of people working on a field, for it was then planting season. The Americans called the people for a me

eting purposely to inquire as to the route of General Aguinaldo. The natives were surprised and attracted to the white complexion and the extraordinary height of the American soldiers. In the meeting, the presiding officer asked about the name of the place, but the natives didn’t understand the American because English was entirely foreign to them. One of the older women by the name of Awayon turned to and requested the younger women saying “Chakayo man!” which means “Please be the ones to answer him”. The American officer thought that the woman answered his question and presumed that the name of the place was ‘Chakayoman’. So, he wrote in his note the word ‘DAGUIOMAN’ as spelled as he pronounced and repeated the word to ask the people’s confirmation if the name of their place was indeed Daguioman, which the locals inadvertently confirmed. From then on, Daguioman was established as the name of the place.” (Source: Daguioman CADC Application Research by AGAS)

A little .

Some moments are simply too meaningful to stay in the archives.

Here's a look back at the final day of our Daguioman Town Fiesta. A celebration filled with the the graceful movements of the Tayaw, and the shared joy of a community united by tradition.

Though the festivities have long passed, the spirit they captured continues to remind us of who we are. Our culture is more than something we celebrate once a year, it lives on in every story we tell, every tradition we preserve, and every generation we inspire.

May we always move forward with pride in our heritage and gratitude for the community that keeps it alive.
