To strengthen regional anti-criminality efforts, PBGEN ERICSON D DILAG, Regional Director of the Police Regional Office Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO CAR), conducted a Command Visit to the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) at the Kapanalig Hall, Baguio City, on June 4, 2026.
During his visit, the Regional Director was warmly welcomed by City Director PCOL RUEL D TAGEL, alongside the BCPO command group, the Chiefs of Police (COPs) from Stations 1 to 10, the Force Commander of the City Mobile Force Company, and other BCPO personnel.
As a highlight of the visit, PCOL TAGEL presented a comprehensive briefing on the city's security measures, crime solution efforts, and recent accomplishments. Reviewing these updates, PBGEN DILAG emphasized the need to intensify operations targeting wanted persons and to address the eight focus crimes, particularly theft and robbery.
In his guidance, he directed all unit commanders to revisit and refine their strategies, maximize weekend operations, and ensure the active involvement of Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams and force multipliers in crime prevention efforts. He also stressed strict accountability, warning that operational lapses will be dealt with accordingly.
In line with the Chief, PNP's directive on public transparency and accountability, PBGEN DILAG also instructed all Provincial Directors, the City Director, and the COPs to maintain an open line of communication with the press. He ordered them to be readily available to answer and engage with reporters, provide timely updates, and ensure that station hotlines remain open for direct coordination.
Further, the Regional Director reinforced the PNP core values of Maka-Diyos, Makatao, Makakalikasan, at Makabansa, urging personnel to remain fair, committed, and steadfast in their duties. He also highlighted the PNP Focus Agenda of the Chief, PNP, PGEN JOSE MELENCIO C NARTATEZ, JR., emphasizing that unity, strong community collaboration, and transparent media relations are vital to sustaining peace and order.
The visit concluded with an open forum where personnel raised operational concerns and shared insights. PBGEN DILAG responded directly, offering strategic guidance and reaffirming the regional office's full support for BCPO's initiatives.

They were simply thereβ€”visible, patrolling, and presentβ€”and that made all the difference.
On June 1, 2026, personnel of the 2nd Mountain Province Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) were conducting routine mobile patrol operations when they received a report from a concerned citizen regarding a traffic incident in Barangay Tocucan, Bontoc, Mountain Province. Without wasting any time, the responding personnel immediately proceeded to the scene to provide assistance.
Upon arrival PCpl Rod L Cas-oy and Pat Jofreck M Angyoda sprang into action. They quickly assessed the injured victims and rendered immediate first aid. Working hand-in-hand with the Bureau of Fire Protection–Sadanga, they carefully lifted the victims, secured them inside the patrol vehicle, and rushed them to Bontoc General Hospital for urgent medical care.
The victims have since received proper medical treatment and are now in stable condition. A subsequent investigation by the 1st Mountain Province PMFC revealed that the group was traveling from Tabuk City, Kalinga, to Benguet via the Bontoc route when the driver fell asleep, causing him to lose control of the vehicle, which then overturned.
The swift and compassionate actions of PCpl Cas-oy and Pat Angyodaβ€”both natives of Sadanga, Mountain Province and proud members of PSBRC Class 2019-01 "LAKAN-DAYAW"β€”turned a potential tragedy into a story of hope and survival.
This incident is a living proof that police visibility does far more than just deter crime. It puts officers exactly where they need to be when seconds count the most, transforming routine patrols into lifesaving missions.

PNP INTENSIFIES ANTI-SMUGGLING DRIVE, CONFISCATES β‚±12.4-M ILLEGAL GOODS ACROSS THE COUNTRY
The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced the successful conduct of multiple coordinated anti-smuggling operations across the country on June 3, 2026, resulting in the arrest of suspects and the seizure of various contraband items with an estimated total value of more than β‚±12.4 million.
The operations, carried out in close coordination with partner law enforcement and regulatory agencies, underscore the continuing commitment of the PNP to strengthen border control, protect consumers, and safeguard the country’s natural resources. These accomplishments form part of the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, which emphasizes more responsive, intelligence-driven, and inter-agency coordinated enforcement efforts nationwide.
In Cebu, personnel operating in Medellin successfully intercepted illegally transported wildlife species valued at around β‚±3.5 million. The arrested individual was taken into custody for documentation and proper investigation, while the recovered wildlife items were turned over to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources for proper handling and rehabilitation.
Meanwhile, in Bukidnon, authorities intercepted smuggled ci******es worth more than β‚±2.4 million during a checkpoint operation, leading to the arrest of two individuals. A separate anti-smuggling operation in Zamboanga City also resulted in the confiscation of additional smuggled ci******es valued at approximately β‚±2.9 million.
In the BARMM area, law enforcement units seized a large volume of smuggled ci******es estimated at over β‚±1.2 million during a late-night operation, further disrupting illicit supply chains in the region. In Pasig City, authorities also implemented a search warrant that led to the arrest of suspects and the confiscation of assorted imported appliances valued at more than β‚±2.2 million for alleged violation of consumer protection laws.
PNP Chief, Police General Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., commended the operating units for their sustained operational momentum, stressing that these results reflect a more focused and disciplined police force.
β€œPatuloy po ang ating operasyon laban sa mga iligal na gawain. We are serious in making sure that laws are enforced consistently and fairly. Sa ating mga kababayan, makakaasa po kayo na tuloy-tuloy ang ating trabaho para mapanatili ang kaayusan at protektahan ang ating ekonomiya at kalikasan,” the Chief PNP said. β€œThese accomplishments show that when we work together with our partners, mas lumalakas ang ating kakayahan na pigilan ang mga smuggling activities.”
He also emphasized that these operational gains are aligned with the broader governance direction of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., who has consistently underscored the importance of strong border protection, consumer safety, and environmental preservation under a whole-of-government approach.
The PNP assured the public that follow-up investigations and legal proceedings are underway against all arrested individuals, while confiscated goods are now under proper custody of concerned agencies for appropriate disposition.
As the organization continues to enhance its operational capabilities, the Chief PNP reaffirmed that the institution remains anchored on public service and accountability, reinforcing the message of a β€œBagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman,” where enforcement is not only firm but also felt by the people it serves.
