Behind every 10-kilogram sack of rice delivered is an ongoing effort to ensure essential food assistance reaches the families who need it most, especially as the rising cost of living pressures ordinary households.

Through the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) Rice Distribution Program, the City Government of Dapitan expanded its house-to-house operations to bring vital food aid directly to residents. On August 8, a total of 1,027 households in Barangay Ilaya received their shares. This followed an August 7 distribution that benefited 750 households across Barangays Kauswagan and Daro.

Instead of requiring beneficiaries to travel to centralized sites, mobilization teams brought the rice straight to their doorsteps. This approach ensured maximum accessibility for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and residents facing mobility challenges.

For many families, this assistance represents more than a basic commodity. It provides additional meals, reduces immediate grocery expenses, and offers temporary relief from the daily challenge of stretching limited financial resources.

Under the supervision of OIC City Administrator Danilo S. Areños, Jr., the distribution was spearheaded by Mr. Iolus Edgar Adasa, Programs and Services City In-Charge and Community Affairs Officer of the City Mayor’s Office (CMO). They were joined by personnel from the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and local barangay officials.

The initiative reflects a collaborative commitment among national, provincial, and local governments to ensure available resources reach grassroots communities. For the beneficiaries, the timely support brought a profound sense of relief and gratitude.

As operations continue across Dapitan City, the impact goes beyond the weight of a 10-kilogram sack. It serves as a reminder that when government units work together, help efficiently reaches the dining tables of those who need it most.
