Empowering local creativity through sustainable innovation 🌿

On April 15, 2026, DTI Albay Provincial Office, through Negosyo Center Daraga, conducted a skills enhancement on abaca-based handicrafts, bringing together 15 MSMEs from the Wearables and Homestyle sector.
Participants enhanced their knowledge in transforming abaca fibers into marketable, eco-friendly products through hands-on demonstrations, guided practice, and discussions on costing, pricing, and financial management.

Mrs. Erika Franz B. Repuyan, owner of Ruyag Native Products Manufacturing, served as the trainer who shared her expertise in abaca craftsmanship and product development.

With 4 unique prototypes developed, the activity showcased not only creativity but also strong potential for marketability. Continuous support through coaching and technical assistance will further help participants grow their ventures and reach wider markets.

Empowering Local MSMEs through Creativity and Digital Innovation!

The Department of Trade and Industry – Albay Provincial Office, through Negosyo Center Daraga, successfully conducted the "Click, Drag, Create: Canva Workshop for Daraga MSMEs" on March 17, 2026 at Negosyo Center Daraga Conference Room, San Roque, Daraga, Albay.

The activity gathered twenty (20) entrepreneurs from the processed food, bread and pastry, and wearables & homestyle sectors to enhance their skills in developing visually engaging marketing materials.

Mr. Noli B. Lucila Jr., Doctor in Information Technology and Associate Professor at Bicol University, served as the resource speaker, introducing Canva's features and functionalities through a guided discussion.

Participants explored Canva’s tools - from ready-made templates to layout design - and applied their learnings through hands-on activities, creating their own logos, posters, and social media graphics. MSMEs also received one-on-one coaching on branding, marketing strategies, and business compliance.

Through initiatives like this, DTI Albay continues to strengthen the digital capabilities of local enterprises - boosting brand visibility and enabling MSMEs to thrive in today’s competitive market.
