DAVAO OCCIDENTAL โ The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), through its Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES), continues to create meaningful opportunities for young Filipinos by providing temporary employment that equips them with practical skills, workplace values, and experience that can lead to long-term careers.
Anchored on the vision of Secretary Francis N. Tolentino to expand employment opportunities for the youth through responsive labor and employment programs, SPES serves as a bridge that prepares young Filipinos for productive and decent work.
One beneficiary whose life was transformed through the program is Raquel A. Salayan of Sta. Maria, Davao Occidental.
Before joining SPES, Raquel was an out-of-school youth who struggled to find stable employment while helping provide for her familyโs daily needs.
โBefore ko nahimog SPES, naglisod jud kog pangitag trabaho para maka sustento sa akong pamilya ug sa among pang adlaw-adlaw. Labaw na nga ako usa ka out-of-school youth, lisod jud kaayo mangitag trabaho nga tarong (Before I became a SPES beneficiary, our family experienced serious financial difficulties. As an out-of-school youth, it was very difficult for me to find stable employment),โ she recalled.
