𝗨𝗡𝗩𝗘𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝟵𝟯𝗿𝗱 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗧𝗦𝗨𝗡𝗔𝗠𝗜 𝗔𝗟𝗘𝗥𝗧 𝗦𝗬𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗠 𝗜𝗡 𝗠𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗔, 𝗗𝗔𝗩𝗔𝗢 𝗢𝗖𝗖𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗔𝗟

The LGU Malita-MDRRMO and DOST-PHIVOLCS have successfully conducted the Unveiling and Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony of the 93rd Community Tsunami Alert System installed in the Municipality of Malita, Davao Occidental.

A warm welcome was extended on behalf of our supportive Municipal Mayor, Hon. Benjamin P. Bautista, represented by Engr. Bryan Bautista, the Municipal Administrator. The event was highlighted by the presentation of the CTAS Overview by Engr. Angelito Lanuza, Senior Science Research Specialist of DOST-PHIVOLCS.

Messages of support were delivered by Mr. Jason Hontimara, Local DRRM Officer III of the PDRRMO, representing the PLGU, and Ms. Maria Victoria I. Dado, DOST XI Provincial Director for Davao Occidental.

The ceremonial unveiling was led by Hon. Estfanie Bautista, Engr. Bryan Bautista, Ms. Maria Victoria Dado, and Rngr. Angelito Lanuza.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office in partnership with Office of Civil Defense-Region XI (OCD-XI) provided technical assistance through an Incident Command System Level 3 : Position Course for the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Members on March 17-21, 2025 at La Vista Zia Resort, Brgy. Little Baguio, Malita, Davao Occidental.
The training were attended by instructors LDRRM II Ms. Eileen Joy A. Manatad, RN, Operations and Warning Section Chief- LGU Compostela, Davao de Oro, together with Mr. Francis Jayson J. Bendulo, RN- PDRRMO Assistant Head Davao Oriental, PMaj. Arnold B. Absin (Ret.), RCrim - ICS CADRE Region XI , 2Lt. Edsel S. Fulguerinas PAF (Ret.) - ICS CADRE Region XI and Geol. Ariel Austin A. Acosta, PhD - MDRRMO Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental.

The ICS Level 3 Position Course is an advanced training program designed to provide in-depth knowledge and skills for specific roles within the Incident Command System (ICS). This course focuses on the responsibilities, expected outcomes, and techniques necessary to perform effectively in a particular ICS position. It includes detailed lectures, interactive activities, and evaluations to ensure participants are well-prepared for their roles.

Municipality of Malita demonstrated once again the commitment to preparedness and safety through their participation in the 𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘸𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘚𝘪𝘮𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘦𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘌𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘩𝘲𝘶𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘋𝘳𝘪𝘭𝘭 (𝘕𝘚𝘌𝘋) 2025.

Earthquake drills are more than just routine exercises—they are essential in saving lives during a real disaster. By practicing regularly, communities develop a shared understanding of what to do when the ground shakes. Awareness and education about safety procedures like ‘Duck, Cover, and Hold,’ as well as the importance of rescue operations, can make the difference between life and death. It’s not just about protecting yourself; it’s about being prepared to help others when disaster strikes.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), in collaboration with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), spearheaded a Knowledge Management and Risk Information Session for informal settlers along the riverbank of Poblacion, Malita. The initiative aimed to enhance community awareness and preparedness against flooding hazards.

Mr. Jetroy Diaz, Local DRRM Officer II and Research and Planning Division Head of MDRRMO Malita, served as the resource speaker, emphasizing proactive measures and safety protocols to mitigate risks and protect vulnerable communities.

𝖫𝖮𝖮𝖪 | The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Malita facilitated a Barangay Tanod Summit 2025 on February 27-28, 2025 at New Malita Gym, Poblacion, Malita ,together with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) providing essential skills training on Standard First Aid. This initiative equips our local responders with life-saving skills to ensure a safer community.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office in partnership with Office of Civil Defense-Region XI (OCD-XI) provided technical assistance through an Incident Command System Executive Course for the Municipality of Malita to all Council Members and Department Heads led by Mayor Bradly L. Bautista on 21 February 2025 at EM-Jake Aquawave Resort Hotel and Convention Center, General Santos City.

The training were attended by instructors Ms. Michelle Jean Armilla -MDRRMO Kiblawan,together with Mr. Prosperous Dajalos- CDRRMO Panabo City and Ret. 2Lt. Edzel Furiquerinas Philippine Airforce.

This is designed as a crash-course for persons with executive, senior, and managerial level positions in an agency or office to develop better appreciation and understanding of ICS that are appropriate for the management’s perspectives.

𝑷𝒖𝒃𝒍𝒊𝒄 𝑨𝒅𝒗𝒊𝒔𝒐𝒓𝒚 | LIFTING OF CLASS and WORK SUSPENSION

As weather conditions have improved, the suspension of classes in all levels of public and private schools and government work in the Municipality of Malita is hereby lifted. Regular classes shall resume today February 26, 2025.

Students, teachers, school personnel and government employees are advised to remain cautious and stay updated on further announcements.
