March 31, 2026 | 3rd Provincial Development Council (PDC) Executive Committee Meeting at the Governor's Conference Room, Capitol Building, Matti, Digos City.
The Provincial Development Council - Executive Committee (PDC-Execom) convened an urgent meeting to address "The Assistance to Indigent Individuals or Families - Food Assistance (AIIF-FA) project under the LGSF-FA to LGUs is intended to provide timely, adequate, and targeted food support to indigent individuals or families, particularly during periods of economic hardship, disasters, public health emergencies, or other circumstances that compromise household food security.” (DILG-DBM JC. No.1, series of 2026, Page 1)
A total amount of Seventy-Seven Million Pesos (Php 77,000,000.00) was disbursed to the province from the Local Government Support Fund – Financial Assistance to Local Government Units (LGSF-FA to LGUs). This funding is part of the financial aid allocated under the Fiscal Year 2026 General Appropriations Act, as specified in Republic Act No. 12314.
Given the current challenges we are facing, the urgent nature of this meeting emphasizes the pressing need to swiftly implement this initiative to ensure that food assistance promptly reaches those most affected. This support aims to target the 25% poor and vulnerable families, based on the 2024 Census of Population.
The allocation of funds from the national budget demonstrates the government's strong commitment to supporting local government units in their efforts to combat hunger and alleviate poverty during these tough times. The decision of the PDC-Execom to convene an emergency session reflects the critical importance of coordinating and accelerating the distribution process, ensuring that help is delivered effectively and efficiently to the most vulnerable sectors of the population who need it most.
