Rucas, to discuss and solicit views and recommendations on the PROPOSED IMPLEMENTING GUIDELINES ON THE MULTI-FRANCHISE ORDINANCE OF SIBULAN.

This Advisory updates the Local Advisory issued on November 19, 2025, as a precautionary measure to protect public health from potential risks posed by
contaminated seafood.

Based on the assessment conducted by BFAR, in coordination with the Local Government Unit of Bais on December 2, 2025, in North Bais Bay, water quality parameters are within acceptable limits, and low levels of Vibrio spp were detected.

The results of the heavy metal analysis of the samples submitted on November 6, 2025, also indicate that the levels are below thresholds.

However, all types of shellfish and Acetes sp., commonly referred to as "alamang" from the North Bais Bay remain prohibited, as the shellfish sample collected tested POSITIVE for Paralytic Shellfish Poison (PSP) using the Lateral Flow mmunochromatographic (LFIC) method.

Elevated plankton levels were also detected; thus, fish cage operators are advised to secure their stocks, as hypoxic conditions may develop due to blooms.

Further updates will follow once the algal bloom subsides and the PSP levels are confirmed to be below the regulatory limit.

The BFAR, in collaboration with local government units (LGUS), will continue to monitor the affected areas to maintain public health standards and support the fisheries industry.
