🎬 Congratulations, Team "RANIR"! 🏆💙💚

The Schools Division Office of Escalante City proudly celebrates the outstanding achievements of "RANIR" during the 1st Negros Island Region PEACE Short Film Production Awarding Ceremony held on May 5, 2026 at Negros Oriental Convention Center, Dumaguete City, where it garnered six major awards among 20 Schools Division Offices:

🏆 Special Citation Award in Narrative Innovation
🏆 Best Screenplay/Story
🏆 Best Director – Ana Erica Avancena (ENHS)
🏆 Best Actor – Raingh Caleb Barsabal (Japitan NHS)
🏆 Best Picture – 1st Runner-Up
🏆 Inclusive Storytelling Award

The film also received nominations for Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Cinematography.

Adding to this remarkable milestone, "RANIR" was selected as one of only seven (7) short films nationwide officially endorsed by the Department of Education Central Office through DepEd Advisory No. 133, s. 2026. The film will now serve as an educational resource supporting peace education, learner well-being, guidance, and anti-bullying programs in schools across the country.

This achievement reflects the creativity, passion, and collaboration of our filmmakers, learners, teachers, and school heads, as well as the unwavering commitment of the Schools Division Office of Escalante City in advancing the PEACE (Powering Empathy, Acceptance, and Connection Every Day) Advocacy.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our supportive Executive Committee, led by our Schools Division Superintendent, Sir Peter J. Galimba; Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, Doc. Marites C. DepEd-NIR spokesperson Almyr Caezar Dequiña said on Wednesday, July 29, that DepEd Advisory No. 133 issued by the central office on July 24 encourages the nationwide use of selected short films of the region's "Powering Empathy, Acceptance and Connection Every Day" (PEACE) campaign.

Congratulations to the SDO Escalante City film “RANIR” for bringing home six awards during the concluded 1st Negros Island Region PEACE Short Film Production Awarding Ceremony held at the Negros Oriental Convention Center on May 5, 2026.

Among the 20 Schools Division Offices (SDOs) of the Negros Island Region, SDO Escalante City proudly shined by receiving six prestigious awards, proving its excellence in storytelling, creativity, and advocacy through film.

The team received the following recognitions:
• Special Citations Award in Narrative Innovation - "RANIR"
• Best Screenplay/Story – “RANIR”
• Best Director – Ana Erica Avancena (ENHS)
• Best Actor – Raingh Caleb Barsabal (JAPITAN NHS)

This remarkable achievement highlights the commitment of SDO Escalante City in supporting the PEACE Advocacy Campaign spearheaded by the Regional Office under the leadership of Regional Director Ramir B. Uytico. The PEACE Advocacy, which stands for Powering Empathy, Acceptance, and Connection Everyday, promotes inclusivity, empathy, respect, and unity among learners, teachers, and communities through meaningful educational and creative initiatives such as short film production.

This success would not have been possible without the people behind this achievement. Special recognition is extended to Sir Jad V. Ricafort, Division PEACE Focal Person, for initiating this meaningful activity.

"Empowering every learner through human rights education."

We successfully carried out the activity led by COLEGA, with the presence of our esteemed visitors-Sister Melanie Shatzer and Sister Lorrie Lynn Curriden from the Philippine Country Directors Geneva Office for Human Rights Education, and Ma’am Caroline A. Labrague from the External Partnerships Service of DepEd Central Office.

This meaningful initiative was made possible through the support and collaboration of our Schools Division Superintendent Sir Peter J. Galimba, Doc. Marites Capilitan (ASDS), Doc. Ivy Joy Torres (CID Chief), Ma’am Alma Cuambot (LRP Focal Person), Ma’am Alne Causapin (SEPS-SMN), along with our dedicated school heads and teachers.

Our heartfelt appreciation also goes to our teacher-demonstrators for their excellent and inspiring demonstration. Together, we continue to champion quality education rooted in human rights and shared responsibility.

The Schools Division successfully conducted its first SELG/SSLG activity, highlighted by the election of the new Division Federated SELG/SSLG Officers for School Year 2026–2027. The activity aimed to develop learners’ leadership skills, emphasizing responsibility, service, and integrity.
This success was made possible through the support of key officials, led by Schools Division Superintendent Sir Peter Juson Galimba, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Marites Capilitan, and SGOD Chief Dr. Alicia Olid, whose guidance and presence inspired the participants.
Gratitude is also extended to Sir Glicerio Aligato, Principal IV of ECES, for providing the venue, as well as to the working committees, hosts, and teacher-advisers for their dedication and cooperation in ensuring the smooth flow of the program.
The activity concluded with the successful election of new student leaders, who are encouraged to lead with commitment and integrity, and to serve as positive role models to their fellow learners.
Overall, the activity reflected strong collaboration among stakeholders in fostering responsible and service-oriented student leaders.
