February 12, 2026, the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) in-partnership with the LGU Ganassi, successfully conducted Disaster Awareness and Preparedness Program at the Multi-Purpose Gym in Brgy. Pamalian, Ganassi, Lanao del Sur. The activity aimed to strengthen community resilience by equipping residents with essential knowledge and practical skills in disaster risk reduction and emergency response.
Among those present were Mitchel F. Sumalipao, CPA, Chief of the NCMF Settlement Division, Hon. Noah M. Macapodi, Mayor of Ganassi, Lanao del Sur, Owaida T. Basher, Municipal Administrator, and Zhamanoray L. Gani, NCMF Development Management Officer II. Also in attendance were the students and teachers of Ganassi National High School, whose participation highlighted the vital role of the youth and academe in promoting disaster awareness and preparedness in the community.
The lecture was delivered by Alimoden B. Macalipot, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Officer, who served as the resource speaker of the activity. He thoroughly discussed key concepts on disaster awareness, early warning systems, evacuation procedures, and basic first aid. Through interactive discussions and practical examples, he emphasized the importance of preparedness, coordination, and immediate response during emergencies such as earthquakes, floods, and fires. His lecture provided participants with valuable and actionable knowledge to help reduce risks and safeguard lives and properties.
The activity concluded with the distribution of Go Bags to all participants, symbolizing the commitment of NCMF and LGU Ganassi to ensure that families are equipped with essential emergency supplies in times of disaster. The distribution reinforced the core message of the program, that preparedness saves lives. The successful conduct of the activity reflected a strong partnership and a shared dedication to building a safer, more resilient community.
