PASAY CITY β€” A 62-year-old departing passenger bound for Tagbilaran was arrested on Tuesday afternoon after airport authorities discovered an unlicensed .45-caliber C**t pistol in his luggage.

The firearm, loaded with a magazine containing six rounds of live ammunition, was intercepted at the Central Security Screening Checkpoint (CSSCP) by the Office for Transportation Security (OTS).

The suspect failed to present any legal documents or permits for the firearm during a manual inspection by security screening officers. This led to his immediate arrest for violating Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Fi****ms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Following a standard medical examination and inquest proceedings, the suspect was placed under the custody of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Police Station 2, where he is currently awaiting further legal proceedings.

"In partnership with other agencies involved in airport security operations, we ensure that our airports remain sterile from prohibited items that could jeopardize public safety," said PBGEN Dionisio Bartolome Jr., Director of the PNP Aviation Security Group (AVSEGROUP). # # #

OFW ARRIVING FROM SINGAPORE ARRESTED OVER BOUNCING CHECKS CASE AT NAIA

PASAY CITY, May 29, 2026β€” An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) arriving from Singapore was arrested at the International Arrival Area of NAIA Terminal 3 after authorities confirmed an outstanding warrant of arrest for a violation of Batas Pambansa Blg. 22 (Bouncing Checks Law).

The operation stemmed from information relayed by the Bureau of Immigration, which intercepted the passenger upon arrival and alerted the PNP Aviation Security Group (AVSEGROUP) to an existing warrant issued by the Metropolitan Trial Court of Manila dated November 20, 2013, with a recommended bail of Php20,000.

Acting on the report, personnel of NAIA Police Station 3 verified the information and took the passenger into custody before coordinating with the Highway Patrol Group–Special Operations Division (HPG-SOD) to implement the warrant.

The suspect was subsequently arrested, informed of the nature of the arrest, and apprised of his constitutional rights in a language he understood. An Alternative Recording Device (ARD) was utilized during the arrest in accordance with established procedures.

The arrested individual was later turned over to HPG-NHQ for documentation and proper disposition.

β€œThe law catches up with those who seek to evade it. Our airports will never be a refuge from accountability,” said PNP AVSEGROUP Director, PBGen Dionisio B. Bartolome Jr. # # #
