The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) Executive Committee, chaired by Municipal Mayor Atty. John Edward G. GANDO, together with key municipal officers and officials, convened a Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA) Meeting on August 4, 2026, at the New Municipal Conference Hall to discuss preparedness measures for the possible effects of Typhoon Dolphin.

During the meeting, updates on the weather situation were presented by Ms. Aida E. Gallos, LDRRM Officer III. Mayor GANDO shared that he had already sent a letter to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on July 30 regarding the recent flooding that affected the municipality, particularly the Municipal Building, requesting the agency's immediate action to address the issue. He then directed all department heads to secure important equipment and documents in their respective offices in anticipation of possible flooding.

Preparations discussed included ensuring the availability of food packs, emergency funds, hydraulic equipment, and service vehicles in good working condition. Concerned agencies were also instructed to remain on alert, issue necessary advisories to respective barangays, and prepare their response plans.

The meeting reaffirmed the Municipal Government's commitment to proactive disaster preparedness and a coordinated response to ensure the safety and well-being of the people of Jordan.

Municipal Mayor Atty. John Edward G. GANDO, together with the Market Committee, conducted the awarding of market stalls for the Jordan Food Terminal Market (JFTM) on August 3, 2026, at the New Municipal Conference Hall.

A total of thirty-five (35) market stalls were awarded to applicants through draw lots. Prior to the awarding of stalls, applicants underwent an orientation on market policies, fees and charges, qualifications, available stalls and spaces, lease terms, and other important market guidelines.

In his message, Mayor GANDO reminded all stall holders to open their stalls on or before August 20, 2026, as failure to do so may result in the forfeiture of their awarded stalls. He also encouraged everyone to carefully read their contracts and follow the market's rules and regulations.

The Mayor shared several upcoming projects to improve the Jordan Food Terminal Market, including a landscaping project at the front of the market to create a greener and more inviting environment. He also announced the planned โ‚ฑ10-million improvement of the wet market, funded through the support of Congressman JC Rahman Nava and Governor Ma. Lucille Nava, along with updates on the ongoing construction of the terminal market.

He also shared that the municipality has activated the Command Center on the third floor of the market, equipped with HD CCTV cameras covering areas from Alaguisoc to Bugnay, including St. Michael the Archangel Parish. A composite team will be on standby soon and will serve as the Central Response Team of the municipality for efficient emergency response operations.

Municipal Mayor Atty. John Edward G. GANDO announced that the Jordan Municipal Police Station (JMPS) received the Highest Overall Rating in the Performance Governance Reporting (Unit Revalida) Proficiency Evaluation Process (PEP). The station earned a final rating of 93.50% with a Silver Eagle Remark in the evaluation conducted by the Regional Technical Working Group (RTWG) under the PNP P.A.T.R.O.L. Plan 2030 of Police Regional Office 6. The evaluation covered the five Municipal Police Stations of the Guimaras Police Provincial Office.

This was announced during the 3rd Quarter Meeting of the Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC) and the Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC) on July 30, 2026, at the New Municipal Conference Hall.

In his opening message, Mayor GANDO thanked all stakeholders for their continued support of the municipality's peace and order programs, which he described as a major component of good governance. He emphasized that maintaining a peaceful community is a shared responsibility.

During the meeting, updates on the peace and order situation were presented by the Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Armed Forces of the Philippines/Philippine Army (AFP/PA), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), other concerned municipal offices, and the implementation of the Manipesto Project.

Representatives from each agency also presented their accomplishments and updates. The Manipesto Project reported that its QR code system remains operational, having recorded 731 trips and more than 7,000 registered users to date. The project also proposed integrating QR codes into Barangay IDs for passenger manifests and deploying mobile registration devices to all 14 barangays to facilitate easier registration.

The Municipality of Jordan, led by Atty. John Edward G. GANDO through the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), held the Culminating Program for the 38th National Disaster Resilience Month on July 30, 2026, at the Municipal Covered Gym. This year's celebration carried the theme, "Naghahanda at Kumikilos para sa Panatag na Bagong Pilipinas."

In his message, Mayor GANDO thanked everyone for their continued support of the Municipality's disaster preparedness efforts. He reminded everyone that disasters can happen at any time and emphasized the importance of preparedness, including the timely suspension of classes whenever necessary to ensure the safety of students and the community. He also shared that saving lives requires the cooperation of everyone, including barangay officials and the public.

Mayor GANDO also commended the MDRRMO, headed by Ms. Aida Gallos, for spearheading activities that promote disaster awareness and preparedness.

The program also featured the Likhang Kahandaan 2026: Creative and Sustainable Infographics Contest and the REEL-silience 2026: Short Video/Reel-Making Contest.

Also present during the program were Ms. Leonisa D. Anib, Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO) of San Lorenzo; Sangguniang Bayan Members Hon. Raymond Cruz and Hon. Rizza Joy Caro; and barangay and SK officials.

The Expanded Local Health Board held its regular meeting on July 30, 2026, at the New Municipal Conference Hall, presided over by Municipal Mayor Atty. John Edward G. GANDO.

The Board discussed important health matters, including the proposed Executive Order for the Local Drinking Water Quality Monitoring and Water Safety Plan Review Committee, the Disease Surveillance Report, the MOA for the YAKAP-accredited partnership with Universal Eye Check Optical Corporation, the PhilHealth-YAKAP Fun Run on August 29, 2026, and the upcoming Measles-Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity.

Mayor GANDO also commended the proactive and preemptive measures taken by the Municipal Health Office to prevent leptospirosis among responders during the flooding on July 24, 2026.

The Municipality of Jordan, led by Atty. John Edward G. GANDO, through the Municipal Health Office, celebrated the 52nd Nutrition Month 2026 Culmination Activity with the theme, "Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan!" on July 30, 2026, at the Municipal Grounds.

In his message, Mayor GANDO reaffirmed his commitment to providing free medicines and laboratory services to the indigents of Jordan. He emphasized that the Municipal Government remains committed to delivering quality public services, especially to poor and indigent residents, through programs such as Serbisyo sa Barangay, which brings government services closer to communities.

Mayor GANDO also expressed his support for the efforts of the Barangay Nutrition Scholars in implementing continuing nutrition programs in the municipality. He assured the public that the Municipal Government will continue providing assistance to children and families in need. In addition, he shared that the Municipal Health Office will receive fair allocation in the 2027 budget to further improve its programs and services for the benefit of the residents of Jordan.

The program also recognized outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholars. Ms. Hearty Jane T. Figura of Brgy. Espinosa was honored as the Longest-Serving Barangay Nutrition Scholar, having rendered 17 years of dedicated service. Meanwhile, Ms. Mary Christine O. Molato of Brgy. Sta. Teresa was recognized as the Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar for 2026.

The celebration also featured the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Nutri-Booth 2026, led by Mayor GANDO together with Dr. Robel T. Gencianeo, Dr. Sheila Gumabong, Dr. Flor D'Lyn Gallardo, Mr. Renante Gaitan, Ms. Marites Gallego, Ms. Laila Reyes, and Ms. Suzette Millondaga.

The graduates were recognized during the Mass Graduation Ceremony, held on July 29, 2026, at the Municipal Covered Gym, with the theme, โ€œEmpowering Lives Through Technical Education and Skills Development.โ€

The specialized training programs completed by the graduates included the Community-Based Training Program (CBTP) for Housekeeping NC II and Driving NC II.

The Municipality of Jordan, led by Mayor Atty. John Edward G. GANDO, brought government services closer to residents through its Serbisyo sa Barangay program on July 23, 2026, at Brgy. Sta. Teresa Covered Gym.

In his message, Mayor GANDO thanked the medical doctors, the Bone Scanning Team from Unilab, and the Provincial Health Office for supporting this initiative of the Municipal Government. He also shared plans to establish the Botika sang Jordanians, which will provide free medicines and laboratory services to the residents of Jordan. He likewise updated residents on the installation of the 100-mm pipeline from Buluangan to Lawi, explaining that the water supply from Buluangan will now flow directly to the barangays of Sta. Teresa, Lawi, and Espinosa. He concluded by thanking the residents of Sta. Teresa, led by Punong Barangay Hon. Roger Reyes and the Barangay Officials, for their continued support.

Dr. Jovie Gerona-Salcedo, FPCP, FPRA, delivered a lecture and forum on osteoarthritis and osteoporosis, followed by free medical consultations. The consultations were conducted by Dr. Ellen Grace Belasa, Dr. Donnabelle De La Peรฑa, and Dr. Zeith Ceve B. De Los Reyes, while free dental services were provided by Dr. Krisna Peรฑaflorida Amante and Dr. Rialem Patrielle P. Delijero.

The Serbisyo sa Barangay program brings essential government services directly to communities through the Municipal Health Office, Municipal Civil Registrar, PhilHealth, Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), and the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist. Services included medical and dental services, birth registration, Senior Citizen and PWD registration, PhilSys (National ID) registration, distribution of free birth certificates, and seedling distribution.

Also present were Sangguniang Bayan Member Hon. Gerardo Gaitan, MLGOO Mr. Renante Gaitan, and the Barangay Officials of Sta. Teresa.
