In a vibrant dual celebration of ASEAN Month and Buwan ng Kasaysayan, the Department of Education – Schools Division of Iligan City successfully conducted the Division Pop Quiz 2026 last August 22, 2026!

Spearheaded and organized by our Education Program Supervisor (EPS) in Araling Panlipunan, Sir Omar Q. Hussien, learners across the division showcased their sharp critical thinking, historical mastery, and regional awareness.

The fierce yet friendly academic showdown tested our young minds across four (4) specialized categories:

🌏 Grade 7 Category: ASEAN Knowledge & Cultural Diplomacy

🇵🇭 Grade 6 Category: Philippine History & Heritage Foundations

🇵🇭 Grade 8 Category: World History & Asian Civilizations

ILIGAN CITY — In line with the Department of Education’s unwavering commitment to fostering a secure, nurturing, and trauma-informed educational environment, the Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Iligan City convened a crucial Stakeholders’ Coordination Meeting on Learner Protection and School Safety today, August 24, 2026.

The strategic dialogue gathered key officials and partners, led by DILG City Director Maida B. Daniot, CESO V, alongside personnel from the School Governance and Operations Division (SGOD) headed by Chief Roberto L. Dechos Jr., representatives from Law Enforcement Agencies (LEA) including the Iligan City Police Office (ICPO), the Iligan City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ICDRRMO), DAPPSHI Representative, and Learner Rights and Protection (LRP) coordinator.

The multi-agency meeting focused on establishing robust, synchronized safety mechanisms across all public and private schools in the division. Key discussions centered around optimizing campus access controls, establishing clear family reunification protocols, streamlining emergency communication pipelines, and aligning localized contingency frameworks among response partners.

💡 Key Areas of Collaboration:

📋 Comprehensive Contingency Planning: Reviewing and updating localized School Contingency Plans to address critical emergency scenarios while ensuring trauma-informed approaches.

🚔 Inter-Agency Coordination: Strengthening direct response pathways between schools, local police units, disaster management officers, and DILG stakeholders.

💙 Psychosocial and Learner Support: Ensuring Psychological First Aid (PFA) and learner protection protocols remain integrated into all emergency response strategies to safeguard the mental health and well-being of learners and personnel.

DepEd Iligan City highlights that school safety is a shared community responsibility. Through strong partnership with local government units and law enforcement authorities, the division continues to reinforce protective measures so that every Iliganon learner can study in a safe, peaceful, and supportive environment. 🌟

Ipinababatid ng DepEd ang patuloy na serbisyo ng Learners TeleSafe Contact Center Helpline para sa kaligtasan at kagalingan ng ating mga mag-aaral at magulang.

Upang mas mapalakas ang suportang pangkaisipan at kaligtasan sa mga paaralan, pinaigting ng DepEd ang counseling at propesyonal na tulong sa pakikipagtulungan sa National Center for Mental Health.

Huwag mag-atubiling lumapit kung may pinagdaraanan o concern sa kaligtasan. May handang makinig at tumulong sa inyo.

May pinagdaraanan o concern tungkol sa kaligtasan? Hindi mo kailangang harapin ito nang mag-isa.

REGULAR CLASSES RESUME TOMORROW

The Schools Division Office announces that regular classes will resume tomorrow, August 19, 2026.

All schools are reminded to take extra precautionary measures against the effects of extreme heat and to prioritize the health, safety, and well-being of learners and personnel.

School heads are encouraged to:

✅ Ensure adequate access to drinking water and proper hydration;
✅ Maximize the use of well-ventilated and cool learning spaces;
✅ Allow appropriate rest or cooling breaks, as necessary;
✅ Closely monitor learners and personnel for signs of heat-related illness; and
✅ Immediately implement appropriate measures when conditions become unsafe.

Everyone is enjoined to remain vigilant and responsive to heat-related risks.

Safety remains our priority.
