Geohazard Assessment Conducted in Brgy. 22 San Cristobal, Sarrat, Ilocos Norte.

The personnel of the DENR–Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) successfully conducted a Geo-Hazard Assessment at Sitio Lisud and Sitio Rukib, Brgy. 22 San Cristobal, Sarrat, Ilocos Norte.

This activity was undertaken upon the request of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), with the full support and guidance of our Municipal Mayor Ralph Conrad F. Medrano as part of the municipality’s continuing efforts to assess potential geo-hazards and strengthen disaster risk reduction and preparedness measures in vulnerable areas.

The results of this assessment will serve as a vital reference in identifying risks, formulating appropriate mitigation strategies, and ensuring the safety and well-being of the affected communities.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the DENR–MGB Regional Office 1 personnel for their technical expertise and commitment, and to all stakeholders who supported the successful conduct of this important initiative.

The Municipality of Sarrat, through the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), was once again recognized and conferred the Gawad Kalasag Award during the awarding ceremony held in Bauang, La Union.

This prestigious award is a testament to the municipality’s service, commitment, and noteworthy accomplishments in disaster risk reduction and management, as validated among Local Government Units and organizations nationwide—especially amidst the country’s continuing disaster challenges.

This recognition reflects the collective efforts of our LGU through the support and guidance of our mayor sir Ralph Conrad Medrano, MDRRMC member-agencies, responders, volunteers, and the resilient people of Sarrat in building a safer, more prepared, and disaster-resilient community.

The Municipality of Sarrat, through the Municipal Mayor and MDRRMC Chairman Sir Ralph Conrad Medrano welcomed the team from PAGASA and the South Korean firm K-Water during their courtesy call yesterday.

This visit forms part of the ongoing partnership between PAGASA and the Government of South Korea for the installation of water level monitoring stations and warning posts along the Padsan River. This project aims to strengthen our municipality’s early warning system and support proactive measures toward building a safer and more resilient community.

We extend our appreciation to PAGASA and K-Water for their continuous support and collaboration in enhancing our disaster preparedness capabilities. Together, we move toward a more resilient Sarrat.

FIRST AID & BASIC LIFE SUPPORT TRAINING SUCCESSFULLY CONDUCTED!

November 26–27, 2025 | Brgy. 7 San Manuel, Sarrat, Ilocos Norte

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) and Bureau of Fire Protection of Sarrat successfully conducted a First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) Training for the residents of Brgy. 7 San Manuel on November 26–27, 2025.

Participants were equipped with essential life-saving skills, including proper bandaging,splinting,proper patient transfer, CPR, rescue breathing, foreign body airway obstruction management and other basic emergency care techniques. This training aims to empower our community by enhancing their capacity to respond effectively during emergencies and protect lives while waiting for professional responders.

We extend our appreciation to all the participants for their active involvement, and the Barangay Council for their commitment to building a safer and more prepared Sarrat.

POST-DISASTER NEEDS ANALYSIS MEETING

This afternoon, a Post-Disaster Needs Analysis (PDNA) Meeting was conducted at the Sarrat Presidencia Conference Room, presided over by our Acting Mayor Remigio B. Medrano.

The meeting was attended by members of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) with different response cluster from MDRRMO, PNP, BFP, RHU, and DSWD.

Discussions focused on assessing the effects of the recent weather disturbance, identifying damages and losses, and determining the immediate needs and priority interventions for recovery and rehabilitation.

Through collaborative efforts and coordinated planning, the Municipality of Sarrat continues to strengthen its disaster response and recovery initiatives for a safer and more resilient community.
