THE GUARDIANS OF THE NORTH HONOR WORLD WILDLIFE DAY THROUGH COASTLINE PLOGGING AND MANGROVE TREE PLANTING ACTIVITIES
In celebration of World Wildlife Day, the Philippine Air Force, through the 582nd Aircraft Control and Warning Group (582ACWG) stationed at Paredes Air Station, joined forces with the Dalumpinas Oeste Eco Rangers DOERs , Marine Battalion Landing Team-8, Coast Guard Station Ilocos Norte, the Local Government of Pasuquin , Badoc, and Laoag City, along with other government agencies and civilian volunteers. The collaborative effort aimed to promote fitness, environmental awareness, and community involvement through a series of coastline plogging and mangrove tree planting activities.
Brgy. Davila, Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte — October 8, 2025:
The Guardians of the North actively participated in a Coastal Clean-Up Drive and Mangrove Tree Planting Activity in celebration of World Wildlife Month. Together with partner agencies and volunteers, the group planted 1,500 mangrove saplings and collected 20 sacks of waste materials along the coastal area of Barangay Davila, Pasuquin.
Brgy. Pagsanjan Sur, Badoc, Ilocos Norte — October 11, 2025:
The Guardians of the North extended their environmental efforts by joining another Coastal Clean-Up Drive at Badoc Island, which resulted in the collection of 50 sacks of waste materials through the collective effort of participating personnel and stakeholders.
Brgys. La Paz and Talingaan, Laoag City, Ilocos Norte — October 14, 2025:
Continuing their commitment to environmental stewardship, the unit joined a plogging activity at the Laoag Sand Dunes, reinforcing their advocacy for ecosystem preservation. During this final leg of the series, participants recovered 30 sacks of waste products from the area.
In total, the series of environmental activities yielded 100 sacks of collected waste materials, which were turned over to the Community and Natural Resources (CENR) for proper disposal, and 1,500 mangrove saplings were successfully planted along the Pasuquin coastline.
These environmental missions underscore the unwavering commitment of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, local government units, and civilian volunteers to protect, preserve, and restore the environment, truly embodying the spirit of World Wildlife Day.
