𝗪𝗔𝗧𝗖𝗛 | The highlights of 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 (𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗫𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲) as Philippine Marines and US Marines conclude two weeks of intensive joint training, interoperability exercises, and mission-focused operations.

From amphibious drills and tactical maneuvers to combined field exercises and partnership-building engagements, MAREX26 showcased unity, readiness, and the enduring alliance between participating forces committed to regional peace, stability, and security.

Though the exercise concludes, the readiness, trust, and partnerships forged throughout MAREX26 remains stronger together.

4MBde Joins Simultaneous Flag Raising and Philippine Navy Men’s Health Month 2026 Kick-Off Ceremony

01 June 2026 – The Headquarters, 4th Marine “Makusug” Brigade participated in the simultaneous Flag Raising Ceremony, a regular activity conducted every first Monday of the month, and joined the official kick-off of the Philippine Navy Men’s Health Month 2026 held at Military Park Cape Bojeador, Headquarters 4th Marine Brigade, Burgos, Ilocos Norte.

The activity was conducted in solidarity with all Philippine Navy units nationwide in support of the Men’s Health Month campaign, which aims to promote health awareness, encourage preventive healthcare practices, and foster the overall well-being of naval personnel.

A highlight of the activity was the viewing of the video message of Vice Admiral Jose Ma Ambrosio Q Ezpeleta PN, Flag Officer In Command, Philippine Navy. In his message, the FOIC emphasized the importance of prioritizing physical, mental, and emotional wellness among Navy personnel, underscoring that a healthy force is essential in sustaining operational readiness and mission effectiveness. He also encouraged all personnel to actively participate in the various activities lined up for the observance of Men’s Health Month.

The 4th Marine “Makusug” Brigade remains active in supporting Philippine Navy initiatives that enhance the welfare, morale, and operational effectiveness of its personnel while continuing to uphold its mandate of service to the nation.

4MBde Provided Training on Pekiti Tirsia Kali to USMC Personnel

Burgos, llocos Norte - The Headquarters, 4th Marine "Makusug" Brigade provided Subject Matter Expert (SME) to facilitate Pekiti Tirsia Kali Training for personnel of the 3d Littoral Combat Team, 3d Marine Littoral Regiment, United States Marine Corps (USMC), as part of the continuing Philippine -United States military cooperation and capability enhancement activities.

The training highlights the Philippine Marine Corps' expertise in Pekiti Tirsia Kali, a Filipino martial art focused on edged impact weapon, close-quarter combat, defensive tactics, and combat readiness. Through practical demonstrations and hands-on
instruction, participating USMC personnel are being introduced to techniques to improve reflexes, discipline, and operational effectiveness in close-combat scenarios.

The activity further strengthens the professional relationship, interoperability, and mutual understanding between the Philippine Marines and the United States Marines. It also serves as an avenue to promote Filipino martial arts and showcase the combat skills and tactical knowledge of the Philippine Marine Corps.

The 4th Marine Brigade remains committed in supporting bilateral training engagements that enhance military cooperation, cultural exchange, and operational excellence between allied forces.

4MBde Conducted Capability Display in Observance of the Marawi Siege

The 4th Marine “Makusug” Brigade, with the partnership of the 3rd Littoral Combat Team, United States Marine Corps, successfully conducted a Joint Capability Display at Military Park Cape Bojeador, Headquarters 4th Marine Brigade, Burgos, Ilocos Norte on 23 May 2026 in commemoration of the Marawi Siege.

The activity served as a platform to showcase the combined operational capabilities, interoperability, and readiness of the Philippine Marine Corps and the United States Marine Corps while honoring the bravery, sacrifice, and heroism of the troops who fought and died during the Marawi Siege. The event also highlighted the enduring partnership and shared commitment of both forces in countering violent extremism and maintaining regional security, peace, and stability.

Part of the activity was a live band performance which attracted visitors and created a lively atmosphere that encouraged community engagement throughout the event. In addition, the distribution of McDonald’s toys to children was conducted during the event, serving as simple mementos that brought excitement and smiles to the young visitors.

The Joint Capability Display further strengthened civil-military relations by providing the local community an opportunity to witness the strong alliance and cooperation between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and our allies while remembering the valor and sacrifices of the personnel who liberated Marawi City from the clasp of terrorism.

PH and US Marines Strengthens Community Ties Through Friendly Basketball Games.

May 23, 2026 - The 4th Marine "Makusug" Brigade , in partnership with the 3rd Littoral Combat Team, United States Marine Corps, successfully conducted a Friendly Basketball Game, together with the Local Government Unit of Burgos, Ilocos Norte, Burgos Municipal Police Station, Burgos Fire Station, and Burgos Coast guard Station. The one-day activity was held at the Municipal Gymnasium, Burgos Ilocos norte.

The activity aimed to strengthen camaraderie, teamwork and teamwork among military personnel, uniformed services, local government agencies, and community stakeholders through sports and meaningful engagement. It also served as an avenue to further enhance the enduring partnership and interoperability between the Philippine marine Corps and the United States Marine Corps while fostering stronger relations with the local community.

As part of the civic engagement initiative, the Marines also distributed McDonald's Toys, backpacks, waterproof bags, and basketballs to participants and spectators. The distribution of this items served as a meaningful memento for the participants and spectators who actively participated in and witnessed the event. This simple yet thoughtful gesture created an atmosphere of appreciation and camaraderie within the community, further strengthening the connection between the military and rthe local populace.

The successful conduct of the activity underscored the continuing dedication of the Philippine marine Corps and the United States Marine Corps to promote goodwill, partnership, and people-centered engagement through collaboration activities.

HEADQUARTERS 4TH MARINE BRIGADE HONORS RETIRING MARINES AT MILITARY PARK CAPE BOJEADOR

The Headquarters, 4th Marine “Makusug” Brigade rendered a Retirement Ceremony in honor of MSgt Ramil I Rafallo PN(M) and SSgt Roselo L Rodriguez PN(M) held at the Military Park Cape Bojeador, Camp Cape Bojeador, Burgos, Ilocos Norte. The ceremony was presided over by Brigadier General Bob R Apostol PN(M), Commander, 4th Marine Brigade, together with Staff Officers and enlisted personnel who gathered to honor the dedicated service and sacrifices of the two retiring Marines.

One of the highlights of the activity was the wreath-laying ceremony at the Banuar Iti Amianan Monument, symbolizing respect, gratitude, and recognition for the unwavering commitment and invaluable contributions of the honorees to the Philippine Marine Corps and the nation.

During the activity, MSgt Rafallo and SSgt Rodriguez were presented with Plaques of Recognition and mementos as a testament to their professionalism, loyalty, and exemplary performance throughout their military careers.

The ceremony concluded with a Flag Retreat, marking the culmination of a meaningful tribute to two distinguished Marines who devoted their lives to service.

The Headquarters 4th Marine “Makusug” Brigade extended its heartfelt gratitude and best wishes to the retirees and their families as they begin a new chapter beyond military service while carrying the pride, honor, and legacy of a true Philippine Marine.

4MBde Participates in Communication Exercise During “Fleet-Marine Unilateral Exercise 2.0”.

The Headquarters, 4th Marine “Makusug” Brigade (4MBde), together with its Operational Control (OPCON) Units, actively participated in the Communication Exercise (COMMEX) as part of the ongoing Northern Luzon Naval Command (NLNC) Field Training Exercise (FTX) dubbed “Fleet-Marine Unilateral Exercise 2.0,” conducted from May 20 to 23, 2026.

The exercise aims to enhance interoperability, strengthen command and control capabilities, and improve communication coordination among participating Northern Luzon Naval Command units operating within Northern Luzon.

The participation of 4MBde and its OPCON Units demonstrates the Brigade’s commitment to maintaining operational readiness and ensuring seamless coordination with naval forces during unilateral operations.

The 4MBde remains committed in supporting the mission of the Northern Luzon Naval Command in promoting a capable, responsive, and mission-ready force dedicated to safeguarding the nation’s maritime domain and territorial integrity.
