LINGAYEN, Pangasinan (PIA) โ As high temperatures continue to affect communities across the country, the Department of Health (DOH)-Ilocos Center for Health Development (CHD) is urging Filipinos to regularly monitor their blood pressure (BP).
The DOH warns that prolonged heat exposure and unhealthy lifestyle habits may increase the risk of hypertension and serious complications such as stroke, heart disease, and kidney disease.
Health authorities said extreme heat can place additional stress on the body, particularly the heart and blood vessels, making adults, senior citizens, and individuals with existing medical conditions more vulnerable to elevated blood pressure and related complications.
