City Nutrition Office — City of Candon attended Ilocos Sur Medical Center’s seminar‑workshop, "ISMC Mother‑Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative Integration to the Rural Health Unit Seminar‑Workshop," as part of National Breastfeeding Awareness Month 2026. The seminar covered the roles of Barangay Health Workers as well as Nutrition advocates and other Rural Health Unit members in monitoring mothers from prenatal to postnatal care, ensuring continuity of support after hospital births and integrating breastfeeding into every stage of maternal and newborn care. Together with the MBFHI Committee, we continue to advocate exclusive breastfeeding for pregnant and lactating mothers through "Pabasa sa Nutrisyon," led by Barangay Nutrition Scholars and Program Coordinators from the City Health Office in every barangay — nurturing healthier babies, stronger families, and a healthier Candon.

The Nutrition Office team of Candon together with the Brgy.Nutrition Council and Brgy.Nutrition Scholar and Brgy.Health Workers visited a 10-month‑old infant who showed signs of weight loss. The team provided feeding guidance to the family, coordinating follow‑up care with the family and local health workers and advised for a referral check‑up at the City Health Office to further assess the baby’s Nutritional Status..
