GOV'T WORK, CLASSES SUSPENDED IN 7 AREAS FROM 3 P.M.

READ: Malacañang has suspended government work and classes at all levels in the National Capital Region, Abra, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Benguet, Pangasinan, and Zambales starting 3 p.m. on 5 August, following the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

The suspension was ordered due to continuous heavy rainfall brought by Tropical Storm Maymay and the enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat).

Under the leadership of Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Romeo D. Buenavista Jr., the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Santa Lucia successfully conducted an Orientation for the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Officials on July 31, 2026, for the formation of the Santa Lucia Youth Emergency Disaster Responders (SLDYER). The activity introduced the participating youth leaders to the organization's objectives, roles, and responsibilities while emphasizing the importance of youth involvement in disaster preparedness, emergency response, and community resilience. This initiative reflects the municipality's continued commitment to empowering young leaders and strengthening community-based disaster risk reduction and management.

We proudly congratulate Hon. Iverson Kim G. Agdeppa SK Chairperson of Barangay Luba, on his election as the Municipal President of the Santa Lucia Youth Disaster and Emergency Responders (SLYDER).

This leadership role reflects his dedication to empowering the youth and strengthening their capabilities in disaster preparedness, emergency response, and community resilience.

During the orientation, President emphasized the importance of establishing a Barangay Youth Disaster and Emergency Response Team (BYDERT) in every barangay. He highlighted that organized, trained, and prepared youth volunteers play a vital role in protecting lives, supporting local responders, and ensuring a faster and more effective response during emergencies and disasters.

Through this initiative, the youth of Santa Lucia are encouraged to become active partners in building safer, more resilient communities.
