Tourism takes center stage when communities and industry move together ✨

At the Iloilo M.I.C.E. Vendors Expo, Governor Arthur R. Defensor Jr., presented Executive Order No. 010: AN ORDER TO INSTITUTE FUN, FOODIE, FRIENDLY SA KABANWAHANAN FOR MoRProGRes: A PROGRAM FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF LGUs AS COMMUNITY VENUE FOR TOURISM EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES, AND AS POINT OF CARE FOR TOURISTS PURSUANT TO THE PROVINCIAL TOURISM DEVELOPMENT PLAN OF THE PROVINCE OF ILOILO.

The order puts Iloilo’s communities at the heart of the province’s tourism story, turning every kabanwahanan into a place where events can happen, visitors can feel welcome, and local experiences can take center stage.

For a province built on stories, flavors, celebrations, and warm welcomes, Fun, Foodie, Friendly is more than a tagline. It is a way forward.

And this is MoRProGRes in motion.

On August 9, 2026, young Ilonggo artists gathered for the BUGAL SANG TURISMO: On-the-Spot Poster Making Contest, bringing to life the theme: “Celebrates Heritage, Shapes the Future: The Soul of Iloilo Through the Eyes of the Youth.”

From our treasured heritage and vibrant culture to our destinations, traditions, stories, and dreams for tomorrow, each artwork offers a unique glimpse of Iloilo through the eyes and imagination of its youth.

𝐆𝐔𝐕 𝐒𝐄𝐄𝐊𝐒 𝐓𝐈𝐄𝐙𝐀 𝐒𝐔𝐏𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐒𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐓 𝐆𝐑𝐄𝐄𝐍 𝐆𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐍𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐂𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐑

Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. met with Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) Chief Operating Officer Mark Lapid today to seek financial backing for the construction of a world-class Convention and Events Facility at the provincial government’s Smart Green Government Center.

The proposed facility will be a major feature of the ongoing Smart Green Government Center being built in the municipality of Santa Barbara, a strategic location serving as the gateway to Iloilo City and situated near the Iloilo International Airport.

Once completed, the Convention and Events Facility is envisioned to host national and international events, accelerating Iloilo’s position as a premier venue for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE).

The governor was accompanied by Provincial Tourism Officer Aulynn Yue Sin, Acting Provincial Engineer Jeb Escarilla, Acting Provincial Planning and Development Office head Mary Rose Matucan, Public Information and Community Affairs Office chief Jose Nereo Lujan, and Head Executive Assistant to the Governor Atty. Ruel Von Superio.
