The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) highlighted the importance of agricultural insurance in building resilience against natural disasters during the Farmers and Fisherfolks Day in Anilao on October 10 and the 2nd Fisherfolks Day Celebration in San Joaquin on October 15, 2025.

Represented by Iloilo PEO Head Hannah S. Adeja and Insurance Underwriter Rey P. Homerez, PCIC explained its insurance products, claims procedures, and the need for farmers and fisherfolk to secure coverage to protect their livelihoods.

Both events gathered local officials, including Vice Governor Nathalie Ann Debuque, Mayor Ma. Teresa Debuque, Mayor Atty. Joe Abad S. Lazaro Jr., and partner agencies, who expressed support for the initiative.

Through these events, PCIC reaffirmed its commitment to empowering farmers and fisherfolk by providing accessible insurance protection and promoting awareness on risk management amid a changing climate.

CALATRAVA, Negros Occidental — A total of 156 farmers from Calatrava received ₱324,250.56 in indemnity checks from the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) Region 6 during a distribution activity held on October 16, 2025, at the Calatrava Agriculture Office.

The indemnity distribution covered claims under PCIC’s Rice, Corn, and Death Benefit insurance programs, providing financial assistance to farmers whose crops were damaged by pests and diseases.

Leading the activity were PCIC Insurance Underwriter Jazzel P. Garsula and Charlon N. Melendres, together with Agricultural Technician Joyce Palaubsanon and Edwina Escopete and Municipal Agriculturist Jerica C. Ameler also assisted the distribution of checks.

PCIC reaffirmed its commitment to protect Filipino farmers through agricultural insurance programs designed to mitigate production risks brought about by natural calamities, pest infestations, and other unforeseen events. The agency continues to encourage more farmers to enroll in crop insurance to ensure resilience and recovery in times of loss.

PASSI CITY, Iloilo — The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) Region 6 distributed ₱612,574.58 worth of indemnity checks to 180 rice and corn farmers who suffered losses due to typhoons, pests, and crop diseases during the Farmers’ and Cooperatives’ Week celebration on October 14, 2025, at the Passi City Arena.

Regional Manager II Eva Ulie D. Laud and Insurance Underwriter Jose Gamarcha led the turnover of checks to the farmer-beneficiaries with the full support and assistance of DA-Passi City Agricultural Technicians and staff. Recognizing the sector’s contribution in food security, RM Laud said, “this initiative reinforces the PCIC’s commitment to helping farmers recover from natural calamities and sustain their agricultural livelihoods”. Mr. Gamarcha, Insurance Underwriter for Passi City on the other hand, discussed among others the objectives of crop insurance, the procedure in the filing of notice of loss and the causes of loss compensable under PCIC guidelines.

The activity is part of PCIC’s ongoing efforts to expand crop insurance coverage in Western Visayas and help more farmers recover from losses.

According to PCIC Region 6’s report, the agency achieved significant accomplishments in crop insurance coverage in the city with 5,330 farmers insured from January to September 2025. The insured area reached 3,965 hectares, covering ₱80.05 million worth of crops.

The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) successfully rolled out its Human Resource Management System (HRMS) at Regional Office 6 last October 8–10, 2025.

The deployment team IT Specialist Mr. Arvin Jim Maniebo, Information Technology Officer I Mr. Marvin Tenorio, Human Resource Management Officer II Ms. Caila Eunice Bayron, and Records Officer II Ms. Catherine Sta. Rosa, the three-day activity aimed to enhance efficiency and transparency in managing personnel records and HR processes.

The HRMS is part of PCIC’s continuing efforts to modernize operations and strengthen service delivery for its employees nationwide. 🌐💼
