In celebration of the 2026 National Women’s Month, the Barasan Oeste Barangay and SK Council successfully conducted the “Empowering Women and Families: VAWC Awareness and Health & Nutrition Symposium” on March 29, 2026, at 1:30 P.M.

The program started with a warm welcome from Hon. Virginia H. Narciso and was graced by esteemed resource speakers. PSSg. Daisy C. Abono discussed Republic Act 9262 and its key elements while Mrs. Amalia A. Solatorio, RM, highlighted the importance of breastfeeding, immunization, and proper nutrition in building healthy families.

After the talk was an open forum, snacks, raffle, and a Closing Remarks given by SK Secretary Caryle Necy Fernandez. The program was attended by more than 50 participants of different ages.

With the success of this event, we would like to thank everyone who attended and participated. Let us continue to support and empower women and one another.

On behalf of SK Barasan Oeste, SK Chairperson Shayne M. Cajilig received a check from the Iloilo Provincial Government, through the Office of Board Member Rolito C. Cajilig, for the purchase of one unit laptop and one unit printer with scanner. These will be used for the SK Council's ongoing Project Educ-action: Free Printing for Students.

𝗪𝗢𝗠𝗘𝗡-𝗟𝗘𝗗 𝗟𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗬𝗢 𝗜𝗟𝗢𝗜𝗟𝗢

In line with the celebration of National Women’s Month, the Barangay Barasan Oeste officials and volunteers painted the barangay purple and green as they joined the Women-Led Province-Wide Limpyo Iloilo on the morning of March 8, 2026.

This activity promotes women to take initiative, lead, and step up for themselves, the community, and the environment.

Congratulations, Barangay Barasan Oeste, for being one of the 483 out of 1,721 barangays in the Province of Iloilo with No Dengue Case. This achievement proves that even simple acts like cleaning our surroundings can create a positive ripple effect throughout the entire community.

May we continue to work together toward a cleaner, greener, and healthier barangay for everyone.

Receiving the award was Barangay Treasurer Reynaldo Magno on behalf of Punong Barangay Virginia Narciso.

2025 𝗗𝗘𝗡𝗚𝗨𝗘-𝗙𝗥𝗘𝗘 𝗕𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗔𝗬 𝗦𝗔 𝗜𝗟𝗢𝗜𝗟𝗢 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗩𝗜𝗡𝗖𝗘, 𝗠𝗔𝗚𝗔𝗕𝗔𝗧𝗢𝗡 𝗦𝗔𝗡𝗚 𝗣5,000 𝗡𝗚𝗔 𝗜𝗡𝗖𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗦

Nagahatag sang P5,000 nga insentibo ang Iloilo Provincial Government sa tagsa ka barangay nga dengue-free sa 2025.

Sang nagligad nga tuig, nag-atubang ang probinsya sang pamahog sang pagtaas sang kaso sang dengue. Inisyal nga report nagapakita nga mahimo maglab-ot sa 21,000 ang numero sang mga kaso—kaangay sang daku nga pagsaka sang 2019 nga nakaapekto sa Rural Health Units (RHUs) kag mga ospital.

Sa pagpanguna ni Governor Arthur R. Defensor Jr. kag sa kooperasyon sang Provincial Dengue Task Force, lokal nga opisyales, kag kabarangayan, napunggan nga maglala ang sitwasyon. Sa baylo nga 21,000, sang 2025, yara lamang sa 5,700 lang ang narekord nga kaso sang dengue sa probinsya.

Bilang pagkilala sa mga barangay nga wala sang may narekord nga kaso sang dengue tubtob Oktubre 2025, ginpirmahan sang gobernador ang Executive Order No.162, Series of 2025. Ang pagkilala nabase sa opisyal nga rekord sang Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit.

Sa kabug-usan, 483 ka mga barangay sa Iloilo Province ang makabaton sang insentibo. Ang pundo pagagamiton sa pagpadayon sang mga programa kontra dengue kaangay sang pagpanglimpyo sang palibot, pagkontrol sang lamok, kag mga kampanya sa edukasyon sa ikaayong lawas.

Suno sa gobyerno probinsiyal, ini nga programa nagapakita sang importansya sang pag-isa sang komunidad agud mapabilin nga luwas sa dengue ang tagsa ka barangay.

The Barangay Barasan Oeste SK Council participated in the FEBhigugma Celebration 2026 on February 28, pursuant to PPSK Memorandum Circular No. 02, Series of 2026. The aim of this activity is to promote love for the environment through Gugma sa Palibot and love for literacy through Gugma sa Pagbasa across the Province of Iloilo.

Through this celebration, we, as a council and as a community, strengthen our commitment to cleaner surroundings and more literate and informed youth.

𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

Pursuant to PPSK Memorandum Circular No. 02, s. 2026, the Sangguniang Kabataan across Iloilo Province unites this February 28 for the FEBhigugma Celebration 2026—a province-wide expression of higugma transformed into meaningful, community-driven action.

Through Gugma sa Palibot, we take collective responsibility in preserving our environment with synchronized clean-up drives across coastal areas, roadsides, schools, and barangays. In the afternoon, Gugma sa Pagbasa nurtures young minds through storytelling and reading sessions, strengthening literacy and inspiring the next generation.

Anchored in the principles of participatory governance, volunteerism, and social responsibility, this initiative reflects the power of collective youth action and affirms the vital role of the youth as partners in nation-building.

In this regard, all SK Officials and SKMF Presidents are highly encouraged to actively participate, mobilize their respective Katipunan ng Kabataan, and ensure the meaningful implementation of activities within their jurisdictions.

More than an activity, this is a call to lead with purpose, act in unity, and serve with heart.

Because true leadership is not only spoken in sessions—
it is lived through service, unity, and genuine care for the community.
