Onboarding and Capacity Development for Selected Youth Volunteers of BYVP Cohort 2 Successfully Conducted in Basilan
ISABELA CITY, BASILAN โ The Bangsamoro Youth Volunteer Program (BYVP) successfully conducted its โOnboarding and Capacity Development for Selected Youth Volunteers โ Cohort 2โ on May 14โ15, 2026, at the BUP Conference Hall, Sunrise, Isabela City, Basilan, carrying the theme: โDeveloping Skills and Leadership among Bangsamoro Youth.โ
The two-day activity gathered selected youth volunteers from different municipalities and communities across Basilan to strengthen their leadership capabilities, deepen their understanding of Bangsamoro governance, and encourage active participation in community development and volunteerism.
Serving as Guest Speaker was BM Amin Hataman, who delivered an inspiring discussion on leadership and governance. In his message, he emphasized the vital role of the youth in nation-building and encouraged the participants to become proactive leaders who can contribute positively to their communities and the Bangsamoro region.
Meanwhile, the BYC Project Development Officer Abdul Patta Asnawi facilitated several important modules focusing on Bangsamoro History, BARMM Government Structure, Leadership in Islam, Data Privacy Act, Safe Spaces Act, and Professional Ethics. These topics aimed to equip the volunteers with essential knowledge, values, and practical understanding necessary in carrying out their responsibilities as youth leaders and volunteers.
The participants also underwent a series of workshops and interactive activities designed to enhance their communication skills, teamwork, leadership potential, and critical thinking abilities.
Also present during the activity was Provincial Youth Development Officer Ms. Sitti Shaira โChoockyโ Dompol, who motivated the participants to actively engage in volunteerism. She highlighted that volunteering serves as an important avenue for young people to gain meaningful experiences, develop valuable skills, and acquire knowledge that they can utilize in their future careers and professional endeavors.
The activity concluded with renewed commitment among the participants to serve their communities and become instruments of positive change in the Bangsamoro region through active leadership and volunteerism.
